Pasties
« on: 21 August 2009, 15:47:23 »

Just pondering whilst eating a chicken tikka pastie, should there be a line drawn as to what is acceptable to put in one?

I personally think corned beef hash, which is available locally is a step too far!

Corned beef pasties are great! Chicken Tikka, yuk.
It's all a matter of taste you know ::)

I used to love sayers cornish pasties (which, of course, weren't cornish pasties). I reckon if you get fed things when you are young, ie, your mums gravy, pastry etc., then you remember them as being 'proper' when you grow up.

Corned beef hash - yum!
I also like sausage and bean pasties and salmon pasties!

Can't think of anything that shouldn't be in a pasty to be honest!

It's exceptable to put just about anything in them, connective tissue, bits of bone, a whole manner of things. They slice it up so fine you just don't know.

Some years back my mate was tucking into some Aldi Irish Stew & came across a cow's eye lid, complete with lashes :P :P :P :P NICE ;D

You can't beat your Mum's home made pasties, filled with left over "tater hash".

Don't mind what goes in them, but they should ban that horrible Ginsters pastry that crumbles all over the place and tastes like cardboard.

Fine to have flaky pastry if it's eaten hot and fresh. Shortcrust if it's going to be out of a packet IMHO.

Mechanically recovered meat, mmm lovely.

Have even seen Pukka pies for sale in Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol!
