« on: 26 August 2009, 06:58:29 »

got rid of the crappy remote for my mig as i was getting fed up of fainding it hard to unlock the car i ended up using the key in the door

so i got myself a new alarm/immobiliser
took just over 10 hours and about 50 odd wires and 5 relays

i know have a remote that works from way way away and ive got total closure when i lock the car
and if that didn't put a smile on my face

ive got remote start with it as well

not sure I would use remote heated seats, these things have been known to regularly go on fire / burn out, i would like my bum sensor to be involved as early warning....

This might sound a really stupid question - but is remote start legal in the UK?

How would it work with the insurance if a vehicle with remote start was nicked whilst "warming up"?

I'm sure that there is an answer, but I'd be interested in hearing it.

the car is locked and alarmed whilst warming up or running

as soon as the door is opened or a pedal is pressed the engine stops and the alarm goes off
plus i get paged if that does happen

i can open the car whilst the engine is running and put the key in the ignition to keep it runing but only have a certain time to do that or again the engine cuts out
