The Engine is a GM Y57XE

If you look at the last photo of the holden V8 the battery and the air filter are the other way round

Wouldn't fancy changing the HBV or cam cover gaskets on it, but nice all the same!

My dream project would be to find a smashed up Monaro VXR 6.0 (rear ended one) .... and transfer the engine, brakes, and gearbox into my 2.2  :D

I'd would then leave all the styling bog factory standard!   :D :D

How about just putting a blower on the 3.0L?

It can be done but the bottom end isn't strong enough for it to be worthwhile, anything over ~250 BHP isn't likely to be reliable.

John Lingenfelter company bought all the prototype parts from GM, it was about enough parts for 15 cars. Their plans was to convert Cateras to V8 power but it was to costly and the plans was abandoned.

They sold out the parts, if I remember right it was $2000 for a complete kit with frame, brakes and rear end center section, exhaustheaders and a lot more small stuff.

link to the rats omega here. It is in Norwegian but google can translate.

http://www.rats.no/omega_tg.html

1000bhp is the associated head line on you tube or somewhere iirc.

The project was taken on as a show case for the company to advertise its transmission service. Hence big bhp to prove their whole transmission could take the power.
Omega used for slippery shape.(gls i think)
V8 was a battle due to size of the lump and involved cutting the chassis to make room for the back 2 pots, junking the stock stearing linkage as it was in the way, used something off a nissan as more compact i beleive. But very tight fit to avoid bump steer, which was the challenge to get the front to work.

Dif has its own cooler and appears to be the limiting factor in transmitting that amount of hoof.

Project took over a year due to solving issues and sourcing parts, and thats with major facilitess available. Big job.

Also think there is a v8 omega running in a British championship somewhere. A member here i beleive.
