I know you said you were wearing hi viz stuff Guffer but I honestly don't think cyclists are looked for and worse still seen :(
I have had a few near misses myself even jumped off and threw my bike at some idiots car, shame it missed and broke my pedal as I was even more annoyed then ;D
Unfortunately motorcyclists face the same problem >:(

Trust me I aint exactly small either... 6'1 and 18 stone.  I have thought about those strobe lights you can get flashing say once a second.  White for front and red for back.  No chance of missing me then eh?

Your right odelad, you do need the excerise  ;D ;D :P :P :P

Pot kettle and black sweetheart!  I've seen the photos or does pink just not make you look slim...?  ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

Touched a nerve there have I Guffs ;D ;D ;D
Have a look at these lights I bought these when I was cycling alot, not to be seen light you can actually see with them... they are worth every penny mate :y

...making myself super visible when I cycle.

Part of getting fit and ready for next year's triathlon I am cycling to work.  It's only a couple of miles but I make sure I beast myself.

Having lost my brother 19 years ago while he was riding his bike I am super safety conscious on the road.  It was about 1730 so just turning on daylight so I had my high vis vest on along with high intensity flashing rear LED and super bright flashing front light (and the helmet of course)

I cycle defensively albeit fast and I know when to assert my position on the road and when to sit back and wait.  I follow all rules of the road, and when I mean all I mean all yet my commute is only 2 mins longer than in a car!  Of course there are the health benefits but also the environmental, financial, etc.

Approaching a junction at about 18mph I signal boldly I am turning left, I check behind to make sure I have been seen, I make eye contact with cars waiting at the junction.  The on-coming car turning right however either does not see me or decides to go anyways causing me to brake and swerve.

Lets not forget I was knocked off a few weeks ago.... why the break do I bother?  Should I sit about getting fattter, paying through the nose and contributing to congestion?  It's not like I am a rogue cyclist causing mayhem!  Sometimes I just want to grab drivers out of their seats and bash 7 bells out of them!  >:( >:( >:( >:(

....I can see how that might be a problem - may I offer a tried and tested solution?

Nice weapon, some of our people liked them in 9mm, being brought up on the older model 59 I prefer S&W - but if I were changing it would have to be to the Sig 226 :y

As long as it's not the 9mm Browning .... the world's worst hand gun ... I reckon most people would hit the target better if they threw the gun rather than pulled the trigger ... useless piece of ****.

Now for a REAL gun .. .762 SLR ......  :)

;D that's brought back a memory or one,  The hi-power was my first issue weapon but the FN version rather than the Inglis.

I always liked the L1A1 SLR, but when the full NATO load was used there was a fair old recoil, it was a nicer weapon however than the FN SLR which had, if I recall, a three round burst capability.

I have thought about doing things like that but then if I get arrested I could lose my job  :-[

No problem. A couple of blakeys on your boots. Put your foot out to regain your balance and zzzrt Oops! I appear to have accidentally keyed the side of your BMWcar.

I used to cycle a lot 10-15 years ago but haven't done so recently. Used to cycle in whatever clothes I was wearing, no helmet, normal rubbish lights, etc.

I got on the bike and went for a play locally a couple of weeks back. It's clear that very few people who drive these days have any idea what being a cyclist is like.   :o

make sure you also have a static red and white light at the front and rear.

if you dont your lighting wont meet British Standard, which if knocked off, an insurance company can try to use to get out of paying!

So lights to BS....then put on some you will be seen with  :y

I do at night but this was still day light.... do you reckon I could power these off of 8 AAs?

Just spoke to the local plod.  Using a flashing red light on it's own at night is illegal, using a flashing one with a constant one makes it legal.  Front lights are allowed to flash as long as it oscillates between 60-180 times a minute without needing a constant front light.

You learn something new everyday :y

i thought there had to be static at the front as well, been out of contact with that industry for a while now though.

why the flashing ones (which are normally multi-led anyway) arent made to have 1 led static regardless I do not know.

Isn't there some piece of arcane legislation that specifies that it has to be an incandescent lamp too?
