I still do as I thinks it's nice to welcome them properly and it wouldn't bother me not getting a post added. It's just that anyone wanting to welcome the latest member has to look halfway down page 2 to find them!

Yes, I know ---- a recurring problem. And oft discussed in the past.  I agree that is is good to make new members feel welcome and at home --- some have never ventured on a forum before and a welcome makes them feel easier.

Yes I know HC, we've discussed it in the past. I'd understand if it was a newish member doing it as they wouldn't know it had been covered umpteen times before.

The post count would only matter to somebody who needs them to be able to post on certain parts of the forum. This has even been suggested to newbies by established members, so what's the problem?

I happen to enjoy hearing from and welcoming newbies, post count ain't that important to me

I agree, though  rarely visit the newbie section for same reasons :( Just popped in and it does add to your post count ::) but the top one joined on 2nd Oct, so not the most recent, went further down :y

You say that as your 250th post ;D ;D

I've never seen a longer standing member tell a newbie to go post 50 times in the welcome area so they can advertise a car though, they are told to join in and their post count will soon hit 50. Maybe an input from an admin on this would be helpful?

What happens is that anyone who has joined today and has taken the time to say hello ends up on the second page with half a dozen replies and is forgotten about.

Yeah, see the problem now. I suppose that section should really live up to what it's meant to be about, good point
