Right all the Newbie Posts up until the week old deadline are now there with my name on them, so hopefully this will help anyone wanting to welcome Newbies without digging older ones out :y

I don't reply to Newbies to increase my post count. I reply to them, because i think it's important to be welcomed by long standing members. This way the Newbie feels happier & hopefully they'll join in with threads in other sections & thus contributing to the forum. Now all this bitching & back biting we some times see isn't very welcoming. IS IT????????

I also Agree with cd pete.
I only welcome the new guys to make them feel welcome and hope they join in. Its also good to see where they all come from, and sometimes you can point them in the right direction for there problems.

I must admit when I joined it was great having so many people welcome me, I really felt part of the crowd straight away.

I used to be a regular contributor on the S2forum for my Audi and they were much like yourselves. Very welcoming and very knowledgable. On the flip side I go on the VWAUDI forum for my wifes Audi 80 and that is next to useless. Usually only get one or two replies to any questions and ZERO banter amongst the people on there.

Please could someone tell me what is the problem with building up your post count, and on the other hand, why would you want to, what benefits will you recieve (apart from more stars. I could have got a job a McDonalds if it was stars I was after)

Please, help out a soon to be grandad, maybe the old grey matter isn't working well any more. What am I missing here??

You need 50 posts to sell a car and 250 to sell parts, iirc. After that, I guess it is just stars !!!!

TBH I used to be a regular "welcomer", but got bitched at for it, even though I only used to welcome a few at a time ... so simply don't go in there any more.

As for stars and titles -- like you say -- go to Maccy D for stars (and my own title does me  ;) ).

As Squealey says, the welcome and the banter on this forum is second to none -- long may it remain so  :y

The point about welcoming Newbies is if you start at the last unread post and work your way up - fine, it keeps the newest on top.

The problems start when people start at the top, and work their way down, the newest ends up last on the list, and only gets a few posts.

That's the way I do it B, my objection was people starting at the top and not stopping for a page and a half!
