The point about welcoming Newbies is if you start at the last unread post and work your way up - fine, it keeps the newest on top.

The problems start when people start at the top, and work their way down, the newest ends up last on the list, and only gets a few posts.

Just realised I start at the top, bugger - sorry  :-[

Why not limit welcoming new members to the last 48hrs of joining, or remove the new members entry after 48 hours ? That would stop it.  :y

Maybe the software than the forum runs on can/cant do that.  Maybe mabe making everything after page 1 or 2 read only would be the best way to go about it.

Either way there is never going to be a right way fo get a soloution.

What ever the result the Admin team have enough on thier plates.  so maybe just a polite PM from frequent members with a link for the forum rules may solve it :-/

I hope i'm not in trouble again? :o I have to admit, i'm not too bright when it comes to finding the rules, much less reading them ::) I also have to admit I welcome newbies because I still feel like one & remember how good it felt when you guys said hello to me. I also felt ridiculously pleased with myself when I reached the 500 post count & I became a 'senior', sad I know, but I lead a very sheltered life now ;)
