Must be me being ignorant rob, I always thought of Gibraltar as being quite sunny and I know I use about as much screenwash when its dry but theres lots of bugs about to hit the screen as I do when its miserable and all the crap off the road hits it instead, but normally I never go through that much a week so a bit surprised thats all.

I'm wondering just where in Gib you get to drive your Miggy ...  last time I drove there the only time I got above about 20 mph was crossing the runway !!!  Quicker to walk everywhere !!!  Unless you visit the mainland often I suppose .. :)

You are correct Entwood and i think you were lucky to get to 20mph lol

but yes alot of cross border trips most of the wifes friends live along the coast so do notch up the miles
Plus we offfer our customers airport transfers so usually run back and forth to Malaga about twice a week

For rock hopping i use my moped the only way to get round Gibraltar  8-)

;D dust is a mare in spain. Never understood why the first stroke is on a dry screen before the wash kicks in, common on most cars, probably due to wiper blade sales?

I've been on about this before. Only reason i fitted blades over traditional spring wipers is the pressure points of the springs. With time they scratch, if left long enough, leaving  6 ,or so, wear lines on the screen.  Quick replacement avoids this fair enough. But standard dont last as long as the bosch aero blade twins i'm lead to beleive.  I suspect stock gm may be a bit quieter, just, but for me, no springs, no thanks. Not in the long run anyway.

I need to do something with my wipers / window.

Don’t think the wipers are the problem though. Its as if the glass has a thin film of oil all over it almost?

So when the wipers 'wipe' it just becomes a horrid smear which I can hardly see through  :-X

Tried a couple of glass cleaners with little joy. Has proper screen was in the washer bottle too which cant shift it? :( :(

vinegar? That green Mr muscle glass cleaner? Several applications and scrub the glass clean with kitchen towel until it no longer dirtys the towel, use something guaranteed to be grease free? Wipe the blades too.....maybe?

My old cdx screen, when clean didnt need wipers at speed. The drops just balled up and ran up the screen. New screen on this car has some sort of coating meaning the water spreads out rather than running off. No smears, when clean.

Also car washes can give a funny film. The one near Chesham gave a film that made it look foggy for a second after each pass of the blades. It went after half a bottle of screen wash though.

I find working on the engine or removing the scuttle, i often lean on the screen as its easier on my back. Then wonder why the screen is smeared next time i drive it.

Change yearly, normally March after the frosts.

about £10 iirc for genuine for a pair on trade

found they perform well.

I just went for the GM ones, not that much on the market over here. And not that it rains very much either. But the rubber will perish within a couple of years though.

Once I had a nightmare, windsreen was covered in sandy dust and it was humid. Went to use the windscreen washer but there was no water in there. The wipers ran dry and with the humidity spread and stuck the sand to the windscreen. Couldn't see a damn thing.
