Thats fairly common for the region .... worst place IMHO is Egypt ... I was driving down a 4 lane highway into a roundabout and there were 6 lanes of traffic !!! It was chaos out of pandemonium.

After making it to the Hotel I then refused to drive again, so the company found a local driver to move us around. We ended up back at the same roundabout and in about 30 seconds he got hit 3 times then forced down an exit he did not wish to take !!!

The other guys with me then realised why I had lost the wish to drive !!!

What no indicators  :o   ;D ;D ;D

It seems whoever gets there first gets through, and there were no accidents. Everyone is looking out for everyone else, much safer than over here.

That is because the road users know they have to think, and work it out for themselves.

There was a video on Youtube some time ago, and it showed a traffic light controlled (4 way) junction in Clerkenwell Rd (City of London).

The video showed that when the lights were out of action, people slowed, stopped if necessary, looked both ways while crossing, etc......and there was NO congestion (unheard of during the day at that spot) while the lights were out.

The next video showed the same junction, but this time with the lights working.
Aside from the mass of congestion and visible exhaust fumes in the air from stationary traffic, the amount of near misses when people started "amber gambling" (presumably because they've already been sat in traffic for quite a while) was incredible.

Its the one thing from the states that works well, they love their box junctions and there is never any congestion.

On the down side i was cruising along at 80 odd, and a stop sign for a box junction came out of noware  :-X
