Gritters in Bristol and South Gloucestershire are going mental tonight, so I'm thinking at least our council are on top of things.  Lets just hope other council's are on the ball.

I personally havent had a problem thus far, but that could all change.

Have been using the above site as a guide and just put my area in it.  Starting to look like snow for New Years Eve, which means I may be home alone.   :(  :-X

warning is for central England too, right across the area that had problems for me last time. I am not getting stuck for 6 hours again, booked myself into the Marriott at Heathrow for tommorow night.

I passed Debs earlier, and its fairly clear, just a bit on the hills.  warnings seem to be further south

Couldn't care less what the weather is TBH.

I'm not lifting a finger until the 11th, and if the weather is still "bad" (that's pooftah PC bad, not my idea of bad) then I'll engage 4WD and go to work.

If it's that bad that even a normal (someone born before 1975) person considers the roads unpassable, then my arse stays at home until it's feasible to move.

But the other 98% of cars on the road in front of you without 4WD, won't be going anywhere, so neither will you. Then just need a couple of busses & trucks to get stuck, and gridlock.

The other trouble is 99% of idiots driving 4WD cars, don't realise their cars stop no better than a Ford Fiesta on ice

If I can find 7' in width, then I'm having that gap and don't care what the terrain is.....that's the point of 4WD.

I'm more than aware that 4WD is great on ice/snow for traction, and I am also fully aware that stopping distances are pretty close to terrifying in those conditions......but then we both know that is the sort of skill that sorts the experienced drivers from the f**kwits who have only held a license for 5 minutes.

Good luck finding that gap, when i got stuck on the M40, only the hard sholder was passable, of course like sheep once one went, so did the idiots. But Plod soon put a stop to that.

Hats off to the police driver, he was not sparing the horses in the slush, which must have been fun in a 3.2 FWD VeccyC  :o

It was mainly trucks and busses causing the problems, t!t driving a National Express bus locked up and burried the nose of his bus in the round-about, caused grid lock  >:(

Not a problem in Rotherham, as soon as the snow settles they pull the buses out of service to avoid the chance of an accident as they dont want to get sued.
