My curries are a labour of love. I'm forever trying other methods & side/rice dishes but stick to the tried & tested when cooking for others. It pays to make a base sauce & freeze in portions, (secret of a rich sauce)
It's a hard call but the best sit down i've ever had was Ringmer Tandoori just outside Lewes in E.Sx. I love the hot lemon clothes they bring out at the end of the meal.
Also don't write off greasy looking takeouts. The Balti hut @ Drighlington just outside Bradford. I found it by chance one friday night when i'd run out of time & could'nt make it home. They made me a chicken main dish, cauliflower & spinach side dish, cumin pilau rice, poppadoms/dips...all for £7 & it was gorgeous...offy 2 doors up...sorted!!!! :y
