Snow hasn't even melted properly from last week's fall here, and it looks like we're due more. Do hope so  ;D

Its been white here since early/mid December!  Snow is now compacted into solid ex-slush ruts a few inches high, making steering in any direction other than the slush ruts 'interesting'....  Mainly on the roads in the schemes though but even the bus routes have got a covering of compacted ice now.

More snow forecast for today although not as much as some folks up north/further south of us.

Well on the radio this morning they said from about 9am we'd have snow. Sure enough 9:06am it started, got about an inch already! Long may it continue :y

It's been non stop since abot 7 o'clock here. About 6" so far. Managed to get the lad to school, but most of the arterial roads are now closing. My main worry is the wife, she set off for Sheffield at 6:45 and managed to get there but I just cant see how she'll get home. I'm gonna brave the elements and walk across to asda. If I dont make it back, it's been nice knowing you. ;D

I wish we could say the same about you ::) ::) :P :P ;D ;D

Take care :y :y :y

From Metcheck at 21.20, Monday:

"Our biggest concern at the moment is across central and southern areas of England for Tuesday evening, when it looks like some very heavy snow will develop, bringing some significant falls of between 10 and 20cm, and perhaps even more to some areas. This will cause widespread disruption to travel networks."

Take care, folks!  :y
I think the Met offices servers are ‘snowed under’...

It was snowing when I went to bed last night - 2ish - and it's still snowing here this morning. There must've been about 5" or 6" over night  :o. I'm glad I took our daughter back to Lancaster last night rather than today as origininally planned.   :y :y

Made it! ;D The main problem, as usual, is that people have no idea how to drive in the snow. I must admit I love watching them with their wheels spinning and that scared look on their face.
One of my neighbours, a young mum, was stuck at asda (no taxis), so I gave her a lift. I owe her one now. ;D

Even the FWD of the Astra didn't always help. The closer I got to home the more snow there was, & I ended up going in the direction of the camber rather than the direction of the road. Maybe I should have kept to the motorways.  ;D That said, 10 mph on otherwise straight roads that other drivers were doing, was a little over cautious.  :-?
My road going legal Omega is the far one ......  :y but I don't think it'll be going anywhere for a while  ;D

At least there's some good news on the weather front. :y

The head of the "mild winter" Met Office has got a 25% rise, taking his annual income to between £195,000 and £200,000 in pay and bonuses.
