Gainful employment in the snow
« on: 06 January 2010, 15:21:41 »

Have been fixing people's satellite reception today by just clearing snow and ice off LNB/dish etc - the neighbours all refused my demands for minimum call out of £120 or to to take payment in kind in the case of ladies. It is hard to make a crust these days!!

Everyone is sat inside watching bbc1 thinking the problem is between the satellite and the dish.

You can pop round and do our dish if you like. Just have to climb out of the bathroom window and crawl along the garage roof (about a foot of snow on that) with a broom.

Decided to fire up the valve amps and listen to some tunes tonight instead of watch Murdoch's drivel. :y

Well, I could have climbed out of the bathroom window and de-iced the dish. Or watched freeview...

Isn't it time someone developed a sat dish with a heating element encorporated in it, that you could just energise when needed 8-)

If only some of the waste heat the belts out of the top of the set top box (even on standby) would be sent up the coax to the dish. ;D

.. but you have given me an interesting idea... :y

Should have picked a trade where you know people will pay whatever you demand if they lose the service or want changes made then  ;D
