You do realise that the burnt bit can be scrapped off gently with a knife.My kids were amazed at this discovery after they had gone through a loaf and a half.Then you can put the cheese on and nuke in the microwave for 30-45 seconds to melt the cheese. :y

Thank you all for you kind words ;) I must admit I do get distracted ::) Im must be they only person that has had a chip fire with a deep fat fryer :o I stood it on the hob under extracor fan to take steam away, but must have leant on the knob and melted the fryer base :o  id gone outside and started doing something else when I could see the smoke coming out the window, the oil got at such a hire temp it caught fire :-[ but I did get a kitchen full of fireman  :-*

(Your story actually made me laugh out loud - it's so long since I did that, I think I may have pulled a muscle.  :))

toastie bags work quite well, use them here at work, cheese, ham, tomato work very well, pops up when done, so no burnt ness, and no grill or propper toastie machine needed

I use them too... SWMBO buys them from Poundland, 2 in a pack for (yep, you guessed it ::)) £1 :y :y

Im glad it made someone smile, I thought something light hearted was needed.  Toastie bags will be in my trolley on the next shop  :y :y Something daft seems to happen to me on a daily basis, watch out for the next rib tickler   ;D
