I`m a spinster

Reminds me of when we got married. We applied for a special license and back came this lovely hand-written parchment document from the Faculty office of the Archbishop of Canterbury, complete with a wax seal and everything.

I suggested we should frame it and put it on the wall, and Mrs. KW agreed - until she noticed that it referred to her as "a Spinster of 35 years".

`Reminds me of when I first came to live in Wales (I`d previously spent 20+ years in the U.S): my new Welsh neighbour (lady) asked me if I was a "spinster" and then asked; "are you barren then?"....`had to swallow pretty-hard before answering that one! .....She then asked me if I was "Godless".....`kind of sets the tone for life in this Deliverance-like environment.

Don't you just love the direct, unambiguous and open approach so prevalent in certain parts of the country? - refreshing or what?

.....My parents retired to Wales (Powys) ....in 1986....Zulu......and are occasionally still called "the foreigners from England"....As for what "demonic goings on".....still happen in the mountains......I shudder to think.....  

I am there right now, in Knighton, Powys.
It is miserable, grey and drizzly, aspiring to be demonic...
