I've mentioned it a few times before.
Pfizer sold off various confectionary names after a take over of Warner Lambert. Cadbury bought them for the the gum trade & then almost immediately closed our factory so that Metholyptus could be made in Canada & Turkey where it was cheaper, & sod the 500 or so local jobs!!! Now the boot is on the other foot, we're supposed to feel sorry for Cadbury. Obviously I am for the actual workers, but the media is banging on about a British firm being taken over etc etc

I'm sorry, but didn't cadbury's originally  say they were going to close this plant ?
now Kraft have agreed - and this is viewed as bad why ??
Because Kraft made a promise during the takeover talks that THEY wouldnt shut it.  ;)

I don't feel sorry for Cadbury, it's the workers that i feel for & i know exactly how they feel.
What sessip me off is that it'll be another company closed, jobs lost & another country benefiting from this country. It happens all too often & nothing's said or done >:( >:( >:( >:(

Its quite simple, stop buying anything made by Kraft. If this was France the whole place would be brought to a stand still but because were wishy washy brits we will take one up the gary glitter yet again and do nothing about it, and as an example look at fuel prices. I rest my case ;D

It isn't just France. Most EU countries are still fiercely pro their own country and its products. As I have said before I cannot ever see the day that the Spanish allowed one of their companies to be bought by Johnny Foreigner. Similarly they do not stock produce on a wide scale from other countries in particular Britain. I once talked to a French stonemason about cheese. He was gobsmacked to find out that Britain produced cheese. you can't blame him as the nearest they get (and Spain) is Kerrygold cheese from Ireland. Otherwise it is just home produce.....

The Brits can't have a free market economy where anything goes and you can buy anything fromanywhere but crib when another country snaps up Britains heritage and then asset strips it.
But the other euro countries claim to have a free market economy but actually practice protectionism which is illegal under european law, so I think we have every right to have a whinge about it. ;)
It seems as though we have to play by the rules and are also one of the biggest (possibly THE biggest) net contributors, while the rest of Europe pisses up our backs and yet partially at least, live off British taxpayers money.
VOTE UKIP. :) :y

Call me a philistine but companies need to be survive....

Cadburys has lost so much quality in the last few years, have you tried Roses recently? Yuk.

Dairy milk has a certain taste which is appealing but the glass and a half tag now refers to shot glasses...

Having tried chocolate the world over, American is by far the absolute worst and I hope that the Kraft influence does not affect the unique (if not connoissuer) taste of Dairy Milk further.

Bournville Dark is now absolutely vile-like a block of claggy, tasteless vegetable oil, the absolute opposite of the exquisite (Polish) Wedel (part of Cadbury) Gorszka Szekolada-the Polish version.  The quality difference is staggering, but shows what we will accept in the UK.

I would happily greet the takeover if I knew that quality would be maintained or improved by having consistent standards across the world, but we all know it will reduce further and further if the American taste influence gets in >:(

Both of my Parents used to work at Cadburys in Bournville-it is where they met.

They're both awful now; cheap ingredients, no texture, bland taste.  They are for children who know no better.

Even Lidls own brand chocolate is better quality than UK brands now, which is surprising but true.  We are all used to the Dairy Milk taste so do not compare the quality (scent, depth, width and layers of flavour, granularity, melting quality, smoothness, cocoa content, aftertaste etc*) fairly-Brits just like the flavouring in the DM.

Kraft will cotton on to that soon enough, reduce dairy and cocoa content and increase flavourings to keep the brits happy.

The contintentals would not accept it, rightly so.

*Have you guessed I like chocolate? ;D
