Thing is i want to push to become a streaming engineer, that would be a mon-fri job not 3 days on 3 days off i do now, so would need to be closer.

Thanks to the forum the Omega is cheap as chips to run, even if the HG blows, not an issue. If i got a house i would use the train to get to work (fixed costs)

Omega does everything i want it to do, even if it costs me £100 to maintain every month, still quids in. £10k loan still going to be what £300 a month for 3 years? Be cheaper to run the 2.2 ....

But i know what you mean, buy something newish now which won't need much work done for good few years  :-/

Good Grief! I thought I was boring, but I'm not even in your league.  Student to Old F*rt without passing through "bloke".  What is the world coming to? :( :( :(

Please convince me I've misjudged you. :)

while on the subject of BMW diesels, please take a momment to research "swirl flaps" via google or whatever.

These little time bombs sit in the inlet tract and at any time after 10k fall into the engine totally destroying it.

You will also want to know if this is covered by the warranty...? it is not.

Best i've heard BMW offer in this instance is to pay half the bill for labour and new engine, also fitted with swirl flaps, still leaving the owner with a very large bill...  some owners have been unfortunate enough for the replacment engine to suffer the same fait.

The fix is a flapectomy and fit bungs. £90odd plus labour or something like.

personaly i hate BMW's. Good cars, absalutely no desire to own one. Shame.

Swirl flaps are a very very rare problem after 2002 and mostly affected 320d's and old 525d's, 530d's.
