My maddest conversion

Stretching the bogies on a Lima 50 to the correct length.

Used some brass plate, some gears from a spares box and some white metal EE bogie frames.

Still runs like crap

Tempted to see what aftermarket chassis there are.

It's not a railway layout, but a diorama I made over the winter for truck model shows, in particular the model show  that takes places each year at the Gaydon Heritage Motor Museum to coincide with the Classic & Vintage Commercial Show.

This is the full diorama.



I would love to have a railway layout but our house just simply isn't big enough. Definitely something for the future though.

These are some other locos I did. All of these were later sold on.

37425 Pride of the Valleys - as run by EWS


57011 in DRS colours. Formerly a Lima 47 with Class 57 detailing


A Lima Tug with some weathering applied - a big mistake selling this looking back  :(


31130 Calder Hall as currently run in preservation on the East Lancs Railway IIRC

Can't use the loft as it's full of water tank and pipework - might be able to get a small n-gauge layout up there but deffo not an 00-gauge! Might consider the garden though - it needs a revamp anyway. Good thinking. :y

Used to enjoy looking through Graham Farish and Lima catalogues. So, might just be a project for retirement .............

Bachmann now own GF, Lima no more, but Dapol are doing well in N and Peco are bringing out the odd loco as well as their wagons

Right Folks.

Here is a link to a Steam Shunter my late brother David Proudley and about 9 close friends bought from Dai Woodhams in the 70's. It was shipped from Woodhams to Penderyn Quarry in Hirwaun and restoration started but sadly, interest dwindled and they eventually donated it unfinished to a museum in Swansea. I went there today looking for it but was not there. So made a few phone calls and was told it is on the Gwili Railway, so I called them and they said no we do not have it but they THINK it is on the Teifi Railway, but I thought that cannot be right as the Teifi is Narrow Gauge, so I did some internet searching and after a few hours I found the picture below, the Shunter is all finished. It is after all on the Gwili Railway, well it was according to this picture in 1995. So I will call them tomorrow or Saturday as I am off to the NRM in York for the day tomorrow.Here is the link..........

The photo was taken by a bloke who was (and still is) on the buses when I was there. Small world eh ...
