I think it might be a good idea if some of the people who avoid this area of the forum nowadays were to post up exactly why they dont like it anymore. It might cause some pain and grief, but surely thats bette than everyone going round in circles and getting nowhere. :-/

Some interesting points made and one big one missed.

Steve, sad you gone matey, I howl with laughter at times at some of your comments, but to a new member when all said and done you dont come accross that much different in attitude to killerwatt, but in all honestty I would prefer you both on the forum.

There is not a lot wrong with the forum at all, the problems are the new attidues that are developing in this thread - General Chat, as a help forum there is no better. Global warming and politics, I dont really care for these, or the bus thread for that matter, but other's do, and thats fine by me.

Jokes, yes, getting tedious as they are all reruns, I have stopped posting mine as a lot of them were getting reposted by others a few weeks later.

General chat is still fun untill the stirring gets out of hand and the pee taking has gone past being funny now to be less than childish.

There have been 2 members on here that I hoped I had a say in for them coming back to the forum, and in all fairness one of them talked me into staying when I decided I was going to leave.  Hence the reason I dont post any where near the ammount of replies i USED TO.

IT WOULD BE A SAD DAY IF THE FORUM WAS EVER CLOSED

BUT SADLY IT WOULD BE YOUR OWN FAULTS IF EVER IT DOES.

SO YOU DECIDE IT'S FUTURE BY EVERY POST YOU MAKE

BUT DO ME A FAVOUR - DONT F^^K IT UP FOR ME,
I WOULD LIKE TO STAY PLEASE.

I think if this section got out of hand it should be turned of for 24 hours and any type of chat regagds it in other sections to be nuked.

I hav'nt been around since the outset of the forum but (first time round) certainly within it's infancy, at least 4 years so as it's grown i've seen it change. I belong to a small classic Ford forum & have "visited " a few others & there's weeks between posts. The Omega must be much more loved than anyone expected attracting countless members of varying personalities all of which lead to an unimaginable workload for the admins who as said have their own lives & personal worries to deal with as well as clean up after the rest of us. How can they be expected to deal with one who is offended at one joke & risk offending another who finds it funny?...You can please some of the people...etc. I've moderated my behavior in recent months ie swearing even with an asterisk & tried to turn the other cheek & not bite, i have calmed down somewhat.
I'm an 18 stone southerner living up north, imagine the banter i'm left open to on a daily basis. The point is it's all from friends & in fun & i'm not offended in the slightest. I have racist/religious jokes on my phone i'd never dream of posting here & they're hilarious. Race, age size, religion all form part of humour as swearing has it's place & for some of us does not represent the lack of alternative vocabulary. As said i've already moderated my posting but it's a two way street. Some of the more easily offended need to lighten up a little to redress the balance. ~As for Steve i used to find him funny but have grown a little tired of him recently. By no means a stupid man but the gob masked as humour had worn a tad thin for me...i did'nt complain to an admin though, there's the difference. STOP COMPLAINING!!! ::)

Wow

Just read all this and am shocked

Like others have said, OOF isnt my life but I enjoy my time spent here and would miss it if it went.

Happy to pay a membership if asked to, even if we all paid a quid a year it would be over £8000 towards  the running of the site, that would maybe cover everything if its about money.......?

As for arguing, well, when we were in school (along time  ago!) we soon learnt that if we broke the rules there would be consequences to that, and we discovered it was far easier to just obey the rules.....

I think all the Mods do a top job to keep this site running, I dont think we all understand how demanding it can be for them, so sometimes I think they would be well within their rights to be a little bit stricter with repeat rule breakers and take control of the situation that has developed.

I am as guilty as the next guy for speaking my mind on here, and in turn I respect that others opinions sometimes are totally different to mine, isnt that what the world is about though.....

FFS dudes  get a grip  Its only an internet forum!!

If it closed down  there are plenty other forums on the internet.
I dont realy come on here for the car chat  infact the main reason for me visiting here is the chit chat from the regulars  including the likes of KW In general chat.

I do feel the OOF users should be able to self police after all we are all adults

Not necessarily. Members' children have subscribed in the past, or at least are present when their parents are accessing the forum.

.. and, for the results of self-policing, see the aforementioned shed. :y

This is my only gripe, and not a problem if the NWS warning is used, as promoted by Scruntie, therefore avoiding any sudden closure and questions.. :y
Miss Vamps is a regular watcher of OOF sometimes to the point that I can not type as she cuddles in to by left arm..... :y
