Also, an element of lighter bad language could (and did) work with the light moderation if *EVERYONE* sticks to it.  Sadly, in the last year or so, we have had too many people try to push the limit, on the claim that they class their bad language as normal.

Totally agree, it's not that long since as I only joined March 2008 there was allways the the light hearted tongue in cheek bad language from the day I joined, but it has just got so intence of recent months even some of the older members seem to have grasped it and run with worse language as if the newer members are doing it then so will I attitude, which is quite sad really.

March/April 2008.......about the same time as me.  But.... you post SEVEN times for every one of mine....How sad is that?........ ::) ::) :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

No comment, but at least it's not a load of bo*****ks when I do  ::) ;D ;D

Ok i dont usually get involved in this kind of rubbish but here is my thoughts ....

I have only been here for 2 years and in that short time in my opinion the forum has gone downhill ....
I dont mind any kind of joke because i take it as a joke ...

I work in a place where if you dont have thick skin then you get slaughtered ...

I have never taken offence to anything on here untill the last time i asked for advice about steering wobble/wishbones just a few days ago ....
I was laughed at because i didnt know how to put "powerflex bushes into my wishbones"
I was mocked because i dont know how to use a hacksaw to cut out the inner metal sleeve ????
Some people need to remember that some of us are not mechanics ... before i joined here i would have never tried half of the stuff i have done to my car but i followed the guides on here and did things i would have never done ....
I felt like like a fool and got a "LOL you dont know how to use a hacksaw to cut out the middle bush and press in the powerflex bush"     :( :( :-/ :-[ :-[  ....

I do think there is a definate "cleek" on here where you can say what you want and get away with it but i actually accept that ...
Its the same at my work where its a case of " if your face fits " but again i accept that because i have only met one of two from the forum .

However i do accept the moderators have a job i would not like to do in this pathetic day and age .
Its a sad way to carry on but if the OOF ends then life goes on ... i hope it doesn't but i must admit i did almost delete myself a few days ago  :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
I could probly get any answers i need on here without being a member but i actually do like being a member on here and wish i could come to some of the meets but due to my kids etc i cant ....
i would love to go to the Lakes meet  but i dont think i will be able too  :'(
Anyway Long Live The OOF  ;D ;D :y

tried the wine fermentors club forum.

you know the colour you get when you mix black and white...

Sorry, but not sure what you are getting at ... :-[
Read between the lines ie a cryptic clue. Does the forum now have to be child friendly as well as everything else we can't say or think? No offence mate but i've already accepted i can't swear even with some ***'s to cover & god knows what else, & now have to further regulate what i post or watch because one or two of you out of 8000 members want to go on here with your kids sat on your knee?
Where exactly can an adult be an adult? I'm a Dad & an unofficial overprotective "uncle" to friends children but why should'nt i post/read an adult joke later on at night for fear someone's littlun won't read it next morning?
I thought parents/guardians were responsible for thier childrens computer time, as oppose to expecting the rest of us to behave should we shock one of your little darlings that should be tucked up in beddy bo bo's!!!! ::)

If replacing like with like then yes.

Hence the sudgestion to use polybushes.

If you bash/cut the old rubber out of the centre of the bush and then use a hack saw to cut the sleeve of the bush (from where you have removed the rubber i.e. inside to out) then the metal insert will push out easily.

Poly bushes can be inserted without a press

Hence its more DIY friendly and actualy not to impossible to do without even removing the whole wishbone assembly

Mmm still sounds a bit daunting to a person who isnt good with spanners  ... is there a guide on here for it ... I'll go and check
Not really necessary, just gotta be good with a hacksaw  ;D
Wasn`t mocking you mate and if I offended you in any way shape or form please accept my unreserved apology. The post was made in jest. :-[

Guy, you can post whatever joke you want or pictures for all I care, all I ask is a NWS notice, remember that is Not Work Safe, so I use that as a guide if Miss Vamps is looking over my shoulder, mild or disguised language is not so much of a problem, it is my responsibility to judge what she sees, so I might just pass quickly over something, which I often do, mind she is a bugger for spotting some avatars ::) ::) ::)

In all fairness mike, you have probably just hit the nail on the head regards that part.

the only other problems now are mainly the sexism/racism content, and to be fair the people that need to be listed too are the people that have been offended, they should asses the problem as you have done above and help suggest a lavel to which they find acceptable/suitable.  lets face it, it wont ever completely go away.

Swearing/bad language.  As mentioned, kids may well know more than we do.  So maybe a compromise, if you were to post anything derogotary in any way imcluding swearing then would it offend your grandparents.  Allthoug my grans have both departed and I never new my grandads I reckon my gran would have a laugh with us at most of the tongue in cheek stuff, but the F and C words were just a no no.

just a thought as a soloution needs to be found before the Admin decide it for you.
