Wish me luck! I'm off to see my Consultant in the morning. Last scan showed NFED & blood tests seem to confirm it

I'm expecting him to tell me to bugger off & not bother him anymore

What a bloody rollercoaster the last 3 years have been! My dear old Mum died of bowel cancer 5 years ago & her care under the NHS was diabolical except at the end when the Macmillan Nurses took over, they were brilliant! In my case however, the NHS has been the exact opposite, & my Consultant Surgeon & his team are IMHO the most gifted & dedicated people you could ever hope for! The new esophagus he made me out of my stomach is now working almost as well as the 'real' one, & apart from smaller amounts & some bulkier foods, I am eating normally again. There are minuses of course, I can no longer sleep lying flat or the contents of my upper intestine end up back in my mouth

& I sometimes get the 'dumping syndrome' where my last meal isn't broken down by gastric juices but is instead 'dumped' straight into the large intestine & my body reacts by sending out a surge of insulin & adrenaline with some uncomfortable results

Oh, & i'm now a
very cheap night out as I can't drink large volumes anymore & alcohol goes straight into my bloodstream which means I now speak more s*** than I pass in the normal way!!!!
Still, all small beer when taken in context with what could have been the 'other' outcome !
