Autoglass

Came and replaced my Windscreen today, very impressed all done within 45 mins, its sealed well. They now use cheese wire to cut the bottom rubber rather than knifes now as someone slashed himself.

Chatted about RAC Windscreens, apparently they made their own glass? One of the big reasons for them being crap to fit. He used genuine parts on mine, the strips to the glass (3 of them) came in a huge cardboard box, such a waste of packaging!

Still got a nice new windscreen now, saves washing it  ;D

A clear or blue tint? I feel that my (RAC branded) screen must be due an accident soon  ::)  ::)

Its got a blue tint, looks exactly same as what was in before. I did ask about Heat Reflective, but he said what ever is standard for your model goes in.

Accidentally drive into a screw drive attached to a hammer  ::)

I have seen some Omegas which have a purple tint to the whole screen, its only been the later facelifts which had rain sensing wipers. I wonder if it was only those that got heat reflective  :-/

I can't remember his name, but local to me  :-[  :-[  :-[  :-[ .... he got stung for nearly £200 for a aux belt tensioner on his V6 and needed cam cover gaskets, did young TonyGnome have a look at them?
Any way ..... he had a heat reflective screen in his car, CDX I think, & no rain sensitive wipers.

tried to wangle a heat reflective screen last year, they used rs wipers as an excuse saying they could not guarantee wipers would work with hr screen, so i got a direct replacement, end of.

Since seen a thread on here that rs wipers and hr screen work fine together, as i strongly sugested to Autoglass branch manager at the time.

Weren't tied to any particular trim level, just seems that some late model cars got them. No pattern to it though, neither of mine have had them and my first Elite was a MY2003.....
