At least Top Gear cheered me up yesterday!
« on: 28 June 2010, 14:28:39 »

I know it is all staged, rehearsed etc but the Reliant Robin segment was just so funny.

Clarkson has aged a bit and so has Hammond. May looks younger if anything.

I do not normally watch Top Gear, but due to the football, I did.  I am so pleased I did as for me this first of the series was an absolute classic!  :y :y :y :y :y

And why??  Because my pet hate - a 3 wheel Reliant Robin - was being driven a short distance of 14 miles by Clarkson

Within seconds he had rolled it, then was continually rolling it over and over again, asking "passer bys" to lift him back onto his wheels! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

To me this was like it always was!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  I just couldn't stop laughing, and thinking about an old friend I knew he in the early 1970s who drove a number, "nutty Ron", who, yes rolled his more than once!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

When Clarkson drove the front wheel into an inspection pit, then got mechanics to fit stabilizers, well that was it; I wet myself!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Absolutely brilliant!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)

If you didn't watch it, I advise you strongly to do so and have a laugh!  Should be on BBC i-player, and was the last part of the programme!! :D :D :D ;)

My brother had one of the really valuable ones, tomato with a white stripe!

My son was also rolling round the floor every time the thing slid into shot  :D

I had a Reliant van (yes, like Del Boy's only sh1t beige).

I had a full bike licence so could drive it unaccompanied, and it helped me get through my car test first go.

Oh, and I never rolled mine either. I did have one back wheel off the ground once, though. And I 'wheelied' it when I had 4 of my mates sitting in the back on the way home from a night club. Talk about style!  ;D

I though conventional wisdom was that it was better to have the 2 wheel axle at the front, like the Morgan trikes.

No but a "friend" arranged for Wilkinsons Motorcycle shop to bring one out for me to test drive unbeknown to me. In return I advertised a rare penny and a light beagle aircraft for sale at below market rates.!!! ;D ;D
