Apart from a black case and 250GB hard drive has anything else changed.

There are but 3 reasons why you re-design something

Market trends
Obsolesecence
Cost.

I suspect its for 1 and 3 above.....

I guess also:

4) to overcome the RROD damage that has plaugued the machine, even though the 'Jaspers' pretty much solved it anyway.  But by making it appear a 'new' design, it should loose some of that historic baggage.

But cost is probably primary, as they need to reduce prices to restimulate interest after Nintendo have wiped the floor with the lower specced Wii.

Sony can command a higher price for their (equally bad) gayStation, partly because Sony consumers are like BMW consumers (as in loyalty, not willing to see beyond their preferred brand), and partly because everyone loves to hate Microsoft.  Also, gayStation can do BluGay (and is the only BluGay player worth buying as Sony keep changing the bloody spec!!)

I am tempted to get a new slim one, as they are supposed to be virtually silent at idle, and have WiFi.

Seeing as I only uses Xboxes as MCE extenders, these are vast improvements to me...

Rather jaded comments there.

I don't see any negatives in owning a PS3.

  • Great, updatable Bluray player
  • Same games you get on the Xbox
  • Free online gaming (unlike the Xbox)

If you don't like it don't buy one, but I really fail to see why you would call it gay?

That's interesting (having two MCE Artisan/Scaleo boxes) how involved is it?

You connect the 360 onto your network, authorise it with the MCE and away you go, watch live and recorded tv and any other media the MCE can play on your 360.

PS3 controllers are appalling, i can play COD MW2 or GTA4 all day long without issues, big comfy controllers easy to aim. PS3 ones are too small and i find my thumbs hurt after just a short while.

PS3 is over priced, i don't need blue-ray (never will) its just as un-reliable  as xBox, the press just hate Microsoft so its issues are well published.

Current prices, PS3 is £250, regular Xbox is just £100, the slim is just £180

Aah, that seems to be very straight forward Capt. :y  I can see immediately where that would help me.

Having zero knowledge of games and the machines they're played on can I assume that this arrangement would work with previous models of the Xbox?
