You can even buy infra red remotes to operate the xbox when it's being an extender if you prefer it to using a controller.

PS3 controllers are appalling, i can play COD MW2 or GTA4 all day long without issues, big comfy controllers easy to aim. PS3 ones are too small and i find my thumbs hurt after just a short while.

PS3 is over priced, i don't need blue-ray (never will) its just as un-reliable  as xBox, the press just hate Microsoft so its issues are well published.

Current prices, PS3 is £250, regular Xbox is just £100, the slim is just £180

Well you having big hands is not a Sony problem is it?

Take off the price of a buget Bluray player and the actual price of the consoles are the same. Again not Sony's fault you don't want one.

I don't know of anyone with reliability issues, PS3 or Xbox. No different than any other product. Some people have problems others don't.

Depending on what you want, I guess both consoles suit any number of consumers. But to say it's crap because I don't like this or that bit is stupid.

We have both in the house BTW, plus two Wii's. I didn't buy it because I'm a brand buying sheep, I bought it because it does what it does, and as stated before, I don't have to pay to play over the price of buying a game.

Wired Capt., as I took the oppurtunity to lay cat5 cable all over the house when I ripped up the floors to install hard wood.

We've got a Wii here as well  :y - Love bit of Mario Kart

But for a proper games console Sony is way over-priced, always has been, and its  reflected in sales, outselling PS3 by 10 million units per year. Also xbox is backwards compatible with old games (no chipping needed) unlike PS3.

Sony's online play while free, lacks decent numbers, a mate struggles with online games at certain times of the day, as most people just buy them for the blue-ray player.

Piece of cake then, you just need a 360 plugged into your telly in the remote location and plugged into the network.
IIRC the extenders bit of the MCE settings then walks you through the authorisation process and away you go.

Wired is much better  :y

Got Sky on my xbox (another advantage over PS3) and i stream movies and live TV over it, on WiFi it struggled (admit router is old) along with other traffic. But wired can stream movies no issue on my 8Mb connection  :y

That's great Capt., I knew laying all those wires was going to come in handy at some point. ;D

May be worth picking up a cheap 360 on the bay and having a play about with it. Just ensure you get a HDMI model if your tv supports it.

If you're not going to be playing games HD size isn't an issue but I believe having a drive connected speeds up response slightly (stores some info rather than downloading it from MCE every time) and who knows you might decide to play a few games which is where the HD comes into it's own.
Copying a game to the HD makes it quieter, faster and saves wear on the dvd drive and disc.
But the HD are a clip on unit so can be added later or replaced with larger at a later date.

.

Thought the HD only stored game results or info, and you didnt play the game from the HD (other wise people would group  together and buy a disk  and all copy to thier HD)

Are you sating the HD (as in Hard drive) is not standard as you say it will cipp on afterwards.  Mentions 250GB Standard. or are you saying tou can add a 2nd one.
