« on: 27 September 2010, 22:42:17 »

My laptop will not connect to the Internet..... :'( :'(
Signal is good, swmbo is using hers, mine shows a signal but will not connect. I have done a few restarts and it goes to BT openzone, change it to ours, press connect and after a while of searching no connection..any thoughts, simply please.... :-[ :-[

Using my dongle and working fine.... ::) ::) ::)

The Missus has probably blocked your laptop on the Router.  ;D

Anyway.

Try a static IP,
Check FireWall Settings,

Other than that, it's technical stuff.

I've met a couple of Vista computers of late that will not show internet on IE.  You can go to CMD and ping any website successfully but no amount of playing will get IE (or Safari either in one case) to display web pages.

A complete re-install may have to follow.

Check the WEP/WPA settings definate first port of call...

Then check the router wireless access list (assuming it is enabled)...
