Does anyone have experience of the Philips HDT8520 Freeview HD recorder?

This seems good value @ £219 delivered.

Thanks

I've had my Humax 9200 (not HD) for about 4 years now, and it is brilliant, when I upgrade to an HD TV shortly, I shall go with the HUMAX Freesat box. :y

At least Sony make things people want and use rather than fashion items

You're showing your lack of understanding of modern, shareholder driven business...

Sony (and Apple, and Dell, and HP, and Samsung, and Humax, and Microsoft, and everyone else) make products that its target market think they want ;)  (and the marketting as all about getting people to think they want/need it)

crApple Mac does indeed own that (still niche) market :y. And some others.

I suspect, potetntially, the software available makes Windows, possibly even Linux, equally viable, but a long term Mac user will never defect, in the same way that a long term Linux user won't. Nor would a Windows user, though more chance, as its still trendy to hate Microsoft ;D

Only those who haven't had to have much dealings with the opposition, and can thus appreciate Microsoft for what they do, both in terms of software and in support ;)
