There is a pub in town owned by some ex dockers, they bought it with the paltry redundancy they got after the Liverpool dock strike in the early 90's.

They have a special bottle of champagne in a case that will be opened only when Thatcher snuffs it! ;D ;D Can't stick her personally but thought she had balls during the Falklands.

and people wonder why this country is in such a state. When someone has the opinion that a death is to be celebrated like that, there is something very wrong with them.  :(

I quite agree with you Manta, it's a very sorry state of affairs indeed and reveals a disturbing undercurrent flowing in this country at the moment.

Now hold on a moment, I stated someone elses intention and beliefs. They are working class men and were badly affected, as were many other industries, by her policies and beligerent attitudes towards the working classes. They have a right to despise, celebrate the passing of anyone they please! Unless there were more than 10 of them and it may be considered a rave under sec 63,64,65 of the public order act :).

I find it slightly amusing that these people have the nuts to publicly express their opinions and beliefs in such a way despite the touchy subject matter.

My own feelings towards her are she supported polpot, pinochet and to some extent the apartheid regime in South Africa. She is hailed as the saviour of our economy but are we benefiting from this now? I personally do not wish her ill but know huge numbers of people who would not shed a tear when she passes!

How would these people feel if they lost a mother, or a child, and the people next door held a party to celebrate that persons death ?

Exactly right Manta! :y :y :y

I am not ashamed to say I will mourn her passing when that comes as a fellow human being who happened to be a strident, determined, woman and became a noted Prime Minister in British History. :( :(

Sorry Lizzie but in my book she is noted for destroying manufacturing industry and destroying whole communities who have not yet recovered from the effects of her policies.

I could start a very long political and historical debate, but I won't! :D :D :D

I will just say that I do understand your argument as I know how her governments decisions affected so much industry, and I know me saying "It was the right thing to do at the time" will go nowhere with you and thousands of others! ::) ::) :D :D :D ;)

Thatcher is a "Marmite"sort of person......you either love her or hate her.

Some think she can walk on water.....others think she should be held under it....for a long time... ::) ::)

She destroyed the manufacturing industry in my opinion......I believe that once ......a very long time ago we actually used to make things in this country... :-/ :y

Is it really a good idea to have a mere woman running the country?

I'm not being sexist but......think of all the "inbuilt"problems.....Periods.....PMT.........HRT......mood swings.....and neuroticism..to name but a few...It's a job for a man.... :y :y :y

In the interests of balance Wingman you should also consider – in terms of what went wrong with our once great manufacturing sector - years of incompetent Labour government, archaic industrial practices as solidified and maintained by successive, dubious and cynical unions together with their leaders and of course, the rise of more competitive manufacturing processes in the emerging economies of the remainder of the world.
