Can we not just cover all this with the charge "failing to use common sense" .... Hmm?

With penalty of "on the spot firing squad" minimum £100 fine payed to the national debt!

Thats just too simple chris, but something does need doing about those people that just start up and drive off.

It's not just snow, and not just on the roof either. Misted frosted windows, tom-toms, mirror ornaments, fog lights, wonky lights, blown bulbs, cheap light clusters that just flash randomly and independently, bike racks, roof racks wally body kits hanging off, lorry drivers darting to lane 2, middle lane nodders, people who refuse to pass a grittier lorry.....

Sure I've missed some.... Oh CARAVANS!  Bloody worst of all.  ;D

That bit makes me think of the new Mercs that light up a single fog lamp when turning.. at least I think that's it - took me a while to work out why he was winking at me.. ;D

Does that include trucks with massive slabs of snow on the beds ::)
Also the massive slabs of ice/snow on articulated trailer roofs that fly off & hit those behind :(

My friend is a retired senior fire-officer (Kent Fire Brigade) and related the story of attending a call to an RTA (several years ago) near the Dover Eastern Docks: where a motorcyclist had been beheaded by a thick sheet of 'clear-ice' falling from the roof of an artic-trailer.....when I`m behind them in cold weather it`s (now) always on my mind! :'(

I think they're more concerned with this sort of thing Nickbat:

now, I only dug out the door as I'd left a pack of fags in the glovebox - the car hasn't moved since Saturday night  :y :y

i guess it is a good idea because with a huge slab of the stuff on your roof it moves the vehicles centre of gravity therefore making it top heavy...i guess it is aimed at 4 x 4 as they dont always fair very well in the elk test in their standard guise let alone with a slab of snow on the roof :y

Indeed TAM, it is amazing how many 4x4s I have seen on recent news clips about the weather that are on the sides or roofs.  Too many of their drivers think they are invincible when driving those, and the inevitable happens! ::) ::) ;)

your right i am driving one at the mo as company car broke down and the amount of people who think you can drive like normal on snow because it has 4 wheel drive is unreal i mean it still takes londer to stop etc...i think if you want to drive one of these tractors a seperate test should be taken :y
