Lower c of g, less body roll, smaller range of movement means front bushes last longer, and less camber deflection might mean less tyre wear giving a flatter tyre profile for longer. Which might explain why Elite handling seems to degrade more than mv6 when tyres get to the end of their life.

Edit to add, bushes only last longer if wishbone bolts re turqued after fitting.

definitely will handle better in curves, will be more stable on road and look better BUT you will feel every stone and every road irregularity... and I'm not that sure shocks can remain as long as the original height.. No!

But the car was designed for a certain ride height - thus simply just lowering can bugger up handling.

Another problem is, given the recent poor weather, my modestly factory lowered MV6, with full petrol and LPG tanks, and various junk in boot to provide traction, has dragging its diff through the ice and snow. Some of the ice clumps it hit, I thought it was going to crack the casing - you could feel the car lift up as it went over it :o

now mine is not lowerd, but I have problems getting on ramps, and getting a jack under, bumpers get in way but suspension is good, so if mine was lowerd id never be able to get over speed bumps..... :-?

That said, my MV6 does handle far, far better than my Elite when changing direction multiple times in quick succession, though not entirely sure if thats due to springs/shocks/facelift v prefacelift (golden nugget, my old facelift elite, handled like this elite, where as Tractor, my old prefacelift Elite TD handled very well)...

Depends how much you lowered it. 15-30mm won't cause issues with speed bumps (there are much lower cars), but if you go 100% chav, and lower further, you will start to hit problems - exhaust and diff are quite low at rear, and the sump isn't exactly high (says the bloke who caught a sump plug at 80mph ::))

Although I prefer the standard look of the car, I think the Doc did quite a good job with his;

Think you mean lower profile. Sure fire way to make the ride harsh IMO. First component of any suspension is the tyre, specifically the profile hight.... And tyre pressure!

But (if done correctly), the wheel diameter is the same, so ride height is the same, so CoG remains the same.  The springs and shocks are tthe same.

So in effect, you ruin the ride for no gain...
