using imperial gallon 4.546 litre,

now 7.68 £/gallon (here)


cant find currency rates for ancient times ;D

never had to fill up completely as I do not do much mileages or drive regularly, so therefore never concerned to think about the price in gallons/full tank, as I only put in what needed then.

£97 @ £1.30 a litre.

£97 @ £1.30 a litre.

My brother nearly had a tantrum the first time it cost him more than £100 to fill his car, and that was a few years ago. The 'perk' of a 100 litre tank  ;D  ;D

I had my first £80+ fill up last night :'( :'(
I suspect before this year is over we could possibly se the first £100 fill up on an Omega that is 'bone dry' >:( >:(

3 of us. Mum's Fiat needed 5 star, and only one station around us sold it...

During the last fuel hike a couple of years back when it hit nearly 1.30 a litre (when oil was mega bucks per barrel), I never managed to fill my car due to the (then) £90 cutoff at the pumps :(

When my dad used to fill up, I was more interested in the smell of the petrol than its price, and the Smurf toys you used to get at National.

I do recall one family holiday to Hunstanton, and having to share a banana splitwith my brothers so that dad still had £2 cash for petrol to get back home to Aylesbury...
