Computer issue
« on: 15 January 2011, 17:37:49 »

Hi all..
Any ideas on this one !!!!!!!!!

Computer starts to boot up...gets to Windows emblem...then cuts out. >:(
Next try goes to 'Last known config/Safe mode' page.
Have got it started in safe mode....I then shut it down, restarted and it ran perfect. Restarted a few more times ..no problems.
Leave a few hours and it does it again. Once it has booted up it runs fine and dandy. :y
What I have done to try to remedy, is as follows.....fitted new HD (changed from IDE to SATA)...fitted new PSU...removed RAM and swapped around (fitting singly then doubled)....removed PCI-E card and used onboard graphics.
Only thing I have not done is removed CPU and Heatsink....could it be this?
Have reloaded Windows and updated to SP3.
Personally, I think it may have to be a case of strip it all out and start again. :(

sounds like a program on startup causing the issue or a driver

Thanks Plomien.. :y

I never really thought about the drivers..
I have only put Windows Office, AVG Virus Scanner, the MB drivers (usb hub and Ethernet and video) and Nvidia driver for PCI-E graphics in....so I suppose its a wipedown and start afresh, trying after windows initial install, then invidual drivers and programmes. :y
If the Heatsink fan was under load at startup, would that shut the system right down.
BTW, when I say it shuts down, it is a full shutdown (audible click then instant total power off)...not a restart shutdown........ :y

Given the symptoms, I'd be more inclined to think about an update coming down...
