Cheers all, nice to see some positive feedback, the quantity of books out there makes it very tempting, especially with no need to store books anymore either.

The extra features appear to be the icing on the cake, ill report back when Ive played more.

This one is primarily for Ljay as the main reader in the house, but suspect we may need 2!

And Jan, sure you will be pleased to know none of your books have appeared anywhere circumventing copyright  :y (that ive checked purely for educational reasons)

What I dont understand is how they offer free 3g access! for just the £40 premium for the 3g version.

I know its never gonna stream anything, but quite capable of browsing basic websites!  doesnt seem to make economic sense to me, not that Im complaining!

What about reading it in high ambient light such as a sunlight room or a room with overhead fluorescent lighting?

No problems

E-Paper is a static technology (if you turn off the volts it retains the image), its as close to electronic paper as you can get at the moment.

I now get the paper delivered on mine. £10 a month and it has the same content but without pictures. It saves a fortune in buying the paper each day!

I can only see in the future that the newspapers will move to a kindle style format (with pictures hopefully). This will keep them going as traditional paper is dying. One step away from full colour animated/streamed news bulletins.

The Times (much as it pains me to say it) has a really nice iPad App, actually - full colour, embedded videos, interactive crossword (that tells you when you've finally managed to get everything right  ;D) .. very slick.

Still wouldn't pay for it when my 30 day trial runs out.. but very slick, nontheless.

Now that I may need to check out! I would try and avoid The Times as well though.

I only downloaded it for the crosswords at Crimbo  ;D but I was impressed indeed.

Wired magazine has an even nicer app (mixed video, text, audio etc), as do a few others. Marvel comics have a wonderful app if you like comics (including vintage ones)..

I do love my iPad ;) (and no eye-ache when reading eBooks, oddly enough for an LCD screen)

Yep, they seem to breed as I now have two that are track prepped.... one is soon to be sold though.

The thing that I am loving the most about them is the boot, so handy  :y
