Daylight Changing...
« on: 20 January 2011, 20:00:13 »

Just seen the 'Tonight' programme about the possibility of moving Daylight times forward by 1 hour...  Effectively putting the clocks forward 2 hours in the spring and putting us in line with Europe and on the CET time structure...

Wondering what you thought about it...

Everyone seemed really worried about the dark mornings, which is a fair point, kids to school etc.
I'd be just as worried about trying to get to sleep with a gang of youths kicking their football until eleven at night.

It aint natural like. OOOO-ARRRR.

Here's a question that sounds appalingly jingoistic but never mind.  Why does the UK have to fall in line with Europe?  Why can't they fall in line with the UK?

Sorry, but the days of Empire are over!! ::) ::)  We are, as always just another country of Europe which is full of ex-empire memories.  Now is the time to work together for a better Europe and better World.

Even the USA are now struggling to 'rule the world' and get their own way! :P :P

I don't see the point of changing it, the system at the moment does work and has done for a very long time.  At the moment it gets light at about 8am, which is quite late enough.

Some prat said that it would give the leisure industry a boost, as there would be more people enjoying the light evenings, giving places a al fresco kind of feel with people dining outside.  In the summer, it gets dark after 9pm, many pubs and restaurants stop serving food at around 9pm anyway, do they think that all of a sudden that places will stay open for another hour???  I don't think so...  I don't think it would encourage outside dining either, purely down to our unstable climate...

Yes. This is the plan:

British folk, by and large, don't like Jonny foreigner. So we'll fill the country with non-british people and confuse the xenophobic b@st@rds by making it dark while they're. watching Jeremy Kyle.

Quite simple Blue, successive Westminster governments have lacked the backbone, the will, the guts, the determination and the national pride to do anything but bow to the will of those in Europe who are now the true arbiters of power in our country.

When thinking about these faceless people in Brussels, with their manipulative ways, I'm always reminded of some lyrics from a song by the great Tom Waites (Small Chance Got Rained with His Own 38)

And the whores hike up their skirts and fish for drug-store prophylactics
With their mouths cut just like razor blades and their eyes are like stilettos
And her radiator's steaming and her teeth are in a wreck, and nah,
She won't let you kiss her, but what the hell do you expect?

And so we will continue to be oppsed over by these blanks in Europe until someone in our sovereign parliament (in as much as it is now) decides to grow a set of balls and tells them to opps off and practice their dark arts elsewhere.

BACK OFF BRUSSELS.
http://www.thepublandlord.com/links/backoffbrussels/

Interestingly, it is a woman Tory MP who is behind this. Does this demonstrate that -
1.The Tory party is now a nice shade of lefty, EU friendly Pink, rather than that nasty Blue ?
2.That this is yet another EU conspiracy to conquer us Brits ?
3. The fairer sex shouldnt get involved in complicated matters like politics, but stick to what they are good at - staying at home cooking and looking after babies, while men sort out the issues which their larger brains are capable of understanding ?

Tin hat and flak jacket on, and running like break. :D ;D ;D
