Well ... seems I was wrong ....  or AOHell have fixed it in the last 2 hours !!   :0

Been to Taxi Driver's (Thanks Dave) and picked up his spare modem/router .. connected it in (presently by ethernet as the wireless config seems to be unhappy ... it wants to use a 10 digit key, my system wants to use a 13 digit one !!) and all sites now work.

I'll try the belkin again later (got to go out for a couple of hours) but looks like it was the modem/router all the time .. :(

Thanks again to Dave for his help  :y :y :y

Glad it seems to prove it was your router.......unless you've had time to try your router again....

As far as the wireless problem.....remember the router can only do WEP encryption....so to temp solve the wireless prob, i suggest turning off encryption......promise i wont pull up outside and start downloading dodgey sites  ;D ;D :D

Just rechecked my Belkin .. nah .. must be FUBAR  .. :(

As to WEP .. my wireless card on WEP demands 5 or 13 charcater code .. yours give 10 or 20 !!! still do do some research .. but presently working fine as unsecured ... :)

Just waiting for the queue of OOFers outside trying it .... might sell a few hotdogs/coffees you reckon ???

Very grateful for all the help and advice. I'll go to ebuyer and order a new one when I get home ... off out for a few hours .. (router will be in OFF mode .. :) so please keep the queue orderly until I return )

:)

Wouldn't worry about WEP being encrypted, should take the average script kiddie about 10 mins to crack a WEP code.

I is back :)

Dave .. splitters changed a long time back in this saga .. :) and all rechecked using your router ... all good .. :)

WEP has been sorted, just changed from the ASUS wireless to a Belkin PCI card .. now all good. I know WEP is pretty poor but it's better than nothing as it will, usually, just show as encrypted on a scan ...

Now to order a replacement ... :)

Anyone any suggestions ?? I'll probably stick with 802.11g as both PCI card and the laptop USB thing are g ..
