.... a small compressor in the garage, runs air tools as well obviously. Haven't used forcourt air for years.

Almost bought one on a number of occasions, could never justify it for tyres along. £100 would take long time to pay off at 20p a go!
Well obviously so if taking that view, I didn't buy it for pressures alone. However it is far more convenient to have it at home running three cars. But if you want to take 3 cars to the nearest garage each time fire away. ESP when her polo tyres have corroded rims leaking air. It would take more trips to the garage for air than fuel given the infrequent short trips it gets. There by costing fuel and more time as well as 20p!   :P
Plus being a stubborn bugger, I would rather pay for my own compressor than pay bp for fresh rather air the cheeky bastids!  >:(

I'm of the same opinion and bought a compressor for that purpose - the bonus is that it has proved very handy for other things.

It will be a cold day in hell before I pay to put air in my tyres. Fortunately they are all free over here (might not be in the cities).

Must run in the family as my mother refuses to put her own petrol in the car so only uses attendant service stations. Bet you didn't know they still exist in England!

Around here I think BP are the only ones who charge 20p for some air which I think is unreal 20p for air, I mean air twenty pence, I'd rather jump off the motorway bridge than pay twenty pence for air I think it's disgusting. Anyway I use Sainsburys as it's free  :)

Every home mechanic should have a compressor, they are cheap as chips these days, apart from inflating tyres a blowgun for dispensing a jet of air is invaluble when working on or cleaning cars   :y

agreed .. lots of use.. cleaning the pcs, sanding some home furniture, painting etc.. (must warn you tough, 50 lt is not adequate for painting causes pressure drop and you need to wait :()

Thats the main use of mine, as well as tyre pressures for 5 (family) cars and 2 motorbikes.

Once you get used to an airgun for cleaning, it really comes into its own, numerous times, TBH.

and yet no one has mentioned blow jobs?  so I wont, ::)

I have a compressor at home, but keep a small one in the car too.
