Funeral Tomorrow
« on: 03 February 2011, 22:53:09 »

Not looking for condolences, people have posted them, just sharing I guess, as I feel I have been the one to stay strong and support everyone else... :)

swmbo has been off work all week, I decided at 6.00am today, after a very rough night to take today off work myself. swmbo went up to see her mum again yesterday and is not at all looking forward to the funeral........every time anyone shows her any support she breaks down, I got a text tonight to say that a colleague from work was calling with some flowers and a card, this set swmbo off again. I am doing my best and saying the right things were I can but there are reminders everywhere, even in a tv programme tonight a child came into the room and saw an adult crying and asked if Grandad had died, Miss Vamps was watching , swmbo face just dropped.....Sorry guys and girls, just speaking out, I will be glad when tomorrow is over and then we can put some closure on the whole situation.... I hope.... :(

I'll think of you tomorrow Mike. I had one yesterday... Not a relation but a close acquaintance though. Tough times I know :(

Unfortunately, time will be the healer... Fingers crossed it won't be too long. We're laying an extra space at dinner for the chap who passed away as Burns Night was one of his favourites  :(

You'll get through it Mike.
My MIL died on Christmas day 2010. Mrs Opti and I were the only ones with her as she died.  She did not exactly slip quietly away either. It was extremely  unpleasant... :-/ :-/..Her husband of 59 years could not face it and had to leave the hospital. We had to return after Christmas for two days and arrange the funeral as my FIL (aged 80) was basically "out of it"
It is always a relief when it is finally all over.

Thank you all for your kind words.

It is all over now, and went quite well, for a funeral..We had a 'Humanistic' Service so whatever you religious persuasion or belief everyone was happy, and in the case of my FIL it did mean that there was no hypocrisy, as he was not a believer.
The service was very much a celebration of his achievements in life rather any singing of sad songs etc that I have experienced previously.....Music was Frank Sinatra, his favourite singer... ::) ::)

Then off for a gathering at the Rosedene in Sunderland, who should be strung up for the quality of the buffet at the price they charged, preying on people when they are most vulnerable, and a lot of money was going over the bar.... >:(

Not the time to make a fuss though, and sadly the family agreed even as the bill was paid, and they are no push overs... :-X

swmbo seems much more relaxed now, she was not looking forward to today at all, time to move on now....if a little slowly at first :)

Glad (?) to hear all went well... Pity about the Bunfight but in this day and age there are places that will take advantage >:( >:( >:(

At least Mrs Vamps seems to have got some "closure" from it
