So Lissie does not know who Gary Moore was? She is a member of a large club, as I had no idea either.

She simply posted here rather than ask Google,

Its much the same if i said Alex Trimble was a great singer, bet you don't know he is.

*but i'll bet you'll go off and google it ;)

a very good album i must say  ;)

I'm off to see them at the RoundHouse in March. Great band!

Saw him live years ago.

My favourite album is Rockin' Every Night Live in Japan.

Got it for £8 when LPs were normally £4

very sad news :'( :'(

Still in shock, can't believe this.

Seen him 4 times most recently last year at Wolverhamton.

Hero of mine and only 58.

Got to get the video player out the loft now as 'Live Blues' only on VHS.

Guess what I'm watchin' all night.

Despite being a lover of guitar rock the bleeding heart scream out crying style was'nt for me.. a bit too deep.
Still the man was always top of his game & an undeniable talent who will be a sad loss to many.

My Tuppenceworth..........

Gary Moore was to me (as I am sure many others) an inspiration.

I too, am left handed, but play right handed, and have been playing for over 45 years now, being taught at age 5, and have played semi professionallly for over 30 years, performing on the same stage as him on two occasions. (no bull****)

The mans attention to detail is astounding, being so afraid of not giving value for money and a great performance that he worries at the end of a gig that he played "good enough" (!!!)

The late Phil Lynott paid him the ultimate compliment........saying "if Jeezus himself had a rock band, he would want Gary for his guitarist!"

Well, he has him now.

I will always remember "Parisian walkways", "out in the fields" and his rendition of "whiskey in the jar" for his faultless tuneful sustain, and his attention to detail. Scott Gorham said he was simply "the man", and I totally agree.

Gary, your Les Paul will scream in Heaven, as it did on earth.
God bless you, and R.I.P. :'(

not heard of his death before now! Am a bit taken aback to say the least. 57 is no age and wasnt aware of any health problems. As someone else on here who plays guitar I can say he will certainly be missed. Some of his 80s tight jeans/big hair stuff wasnt for me but he was a great guitar player who certainly had the sensibilities of a blues guitarist as much as a rock player and a great feel for both melody and tone. As for his famed sustain you only have to watch clips from his live shows when he walks to the predetermined spot on the stage and hits THAT note during "parissiene walkways" ...RIP
