Well, i've just trawled through all eleven pages to get the full SP before putting my 2p worth in (got a headache now & nearly snow blind with all the unrelenting white, as I didn't dare take my eyes off the screen in case I missed owt! ::))
Around two years i've been here, give or take an oil change, so i'm still a newbie in terms of the time the OOF has been around. I've gotten far, far more out of the OOF & some of it's individual Members than I can ever give back, but try & do my bit by helping with photo's, passing on my experiences with my own car & occassionally talking bullsh*t! :-[
I bought my Omega at a time when I thought I wasn't going to be around for that much longer, & it was a car I had always loved & wanted but never would have dreamed of actually owning under 'normal' circumstances, (so I guess i'm one of the undesirable poor who have gained Omega ownership by default  ;)) but at the time I thought sod it! we are all born equal & death is a great leveller as they say, & the credit card company were welcome to take it out of my nose after I was gone  ;D
This place helped me through a rough patch both personally & mechanically, & i've learned more here in 2 years with you lot than I could in a lifetime anywhere else. I've wet my pants a fair few times at the jokes & banter, lost count of the times i've sprayed tea all over my keyboard, been happy at other Members good news & equally sad or sorry when the news is bad, & yes i've taken umbrage at some Posts i've perceived as slights against me or my 'values', but it is easy to type words on a keyboard & send them into the ether when you don't actually 'know' the people you're interacting with, & I think most of us have been guilty as charged in that respect?
I did attend one planned Meet, which was admittedly only 5 miles from my home & I wasn't fit enough then for anything further ;D, but no-one else turned up for various reasons, (I think they'd been warned I would be there!  ::))
I'm retired for health reasons (work didn't agree with me, & as swmbo says, i'm good for bugger all! :D) & my p*ss poor private pension only goes so far so the long distance Meets generally aren't viable  :(  but I intend to make every effort to attend the next Lakes Meet, if only for the day as i'm well past sleeping rough :y (there'd better be someone there, if only to tell me to bugger off! ;D)
So to summarise!, Imho The OOF isn't 'broken' nor is there anything inherently wrong with it (unlike my desmond! ;)) It has to be "All things to all people" and as such there will always be differences of opinion, "one mans meat" etc., so 'change' is inevitable, but the one thing that remains steady & dependable is the Founding Principle of the OOF, like (not same!) minded people coming together to pass on their knowledge of a much loved & cantankerous old bus & give (in the main) unpaid & sometimes unsung personal help to keep the Omega Marque alive, & maybe have a bit of fun on the way? Long may it continue, or as those chaps in skirts North of the Border say, " Lang may yer lum reek wi ither fowks coal"   ;) ;D  :y

Those signs Byron worked a treat...I'd still be looking for the place now had they not been there  ;D

We had to stop in the middle of Newent (which is hardly very big) complete with 23' caravan & phone Daz and CaptZok to come and guide us in;D ;D ;D ;D

We are the men if you need guiding in Andy  ;D ;D

I'll make sure that if I/we ever need guiding into anywhere in the future we'll phone you !!!!!  :y :y :y ;D ;D ;D ;D

How does one get THE number then? ;D
It's written in magic marker on many of the phone boxes in Massive (another of his money making ventures).  ;D ;D

Daz - for all your rubber needs phone xxxx xxx xxx (the rubber is a large toothed belt)

I've also spent some time reading all 12 pages and tend to agree with DLK.

Personally I find the moral high ground/superior/better than you contest on here very distasteful. We all breath the same air and pay the same tax IMO. Keep the finger wagging out of it...?

I know the jokes restrictions on here keeps some away, Bob Dent is missing because of it afaict. Which is a shame. Mick Dundee has gone, admins rarely come out to play anymore. Which I find worrying, if they feel they can't enjoy their own forum then we're in trouble. And it is "theirs" I don't care what anyone says, regardless of the generous oof philosophy "it's your forum" approach. yet there seems to be a queue of people telling them how to run it, moaning and giving them grief.

Maybe it's over policed a little because of that? But having not seen the forum in it's early days it's difficult to say for me.

Certainly Found the place very dull since Xmas, starting to pic up now though.

Just some general thoughts, might well be talking 'dangle berries' again for all I know. ;D

Think this is one of the reasons why there is less "fun" now on OOF - I for one tend now not to post jokes in the sticky - it was easier before the jokes sticky appeared.  Know that some of the jokes may be "old" - so are some of the posts from newer members in the more technical sections, but we don't all moan about that!!

Bob, it's a bit of a tiny pic so I'm squinting, but the estate in your sig looks gorgeous.
Don't really see a problem with this place.  I don't run it, I don't contribute money to keeping it going so I don't believe I am in a position to criticise it in any way.  The advice from here is excellent, and Lee bent over backwards to help me sort out my cam cover gaskets - I owe him for that (way more than just a can of carb cleaner) and hope very soon I'll be able to put a bunce his way.

So a big thumbs up from me.   :y

Bugga the car - seen all the pics before - what about Bobs tiny avatar  :) :y

All good things come to an end, as they say. I have safely printed off all the usefull guides that I think might be of use to me(lists of fault codes ect) in the event of the OOF going tits up, which it surely will at some point, or then again will it mutate into a Signum or Igsignia or whatever they're called forum :'(
