Received my Gliptone cleaner and conditioner today. Tried it on my sofa (which is very filthy  ) and didnt have the effect I thought it would.

I wiped my sofa with a hot towel and put a blob of the cleaner on the sofa and worked it in gently with a nail brush. I noticed it didnt foam as much some pictures on google suggested. While I was scrubbing (gently) the leather was shedding some skin so to speak. Is this normal?

Advice and tips appreciated.

i'm eager to try liquid leather myself.. were the results good or you destroyed the leather with the peeling and all?

sonax or turtle leather conditioner or cream..  pleased with them..

apply one layer.. let it dry.. apply second layer (dont let dry) and clean with paper towel (rub gently no sanding please ) .. apply third layer and let dry..

if nothing available at home or around use nivea moisturizing cream or likes..

I have always used Gliptone on my S type Jaguar and as SMD confirms I have been a little disappointed.

The "experts" on the Jag forum like the product (Gliptone) alot but the cleaner appears do do nothing and there is hardly any dirt on the application cloth which is what I would expect. The car is not that clean!
Also there is very little foaming (don't know if that is good or bad?).

The conditioner is a little better and gives the car a "leather" smell but this does not last very long.

I have also tried it on Omega leather and the results have been similar. It is not a cheap product and would like some advice on other products out there which might give better results.

I'm not really disappointed as I didnt try it on the car yet. Just my initial reaction. Members here recommended it so waiting for them to give me a few tips

auto glym leather cleaner, followed by their leather balm. works every time. If soiling really bad I'll use ambersil groom, (orange cap) available halfrauds etc), first.

Well I made time today to clean my seats despite the weather and just wanted to share my findings.

First I cleaned the drivers seat following the instructions on the bottle which was to wipe seat with damp cloth and use neat cleaner and gently scrub with nail brush. I started at the base of the seat and then the back. By the time I had finished the backrest the base had dried and I couldnt wipe it off so went over it with a wet cloth and wiped.

The result was disappointing to say the least and I even lost my setting for my seat. Even after applying conditioner it didnt improve much. 

I took a different approach on the back seats and had a pan of hot water to dip my nail brush in and worked up a lather. After wiping off cleaner the difference was immediately noticeable and after conditioning the difference was night and day!

I didn't take before and after pictures however I do have a few older pictures which I will post with some new ones after I clean the carpets and put some new mats in.

So if anyone has had poor results with Gliptone, just add a bit of hot water.

I used Gliptone on my setees a couple of months ago after asking advice from the OOF sages. I was very pleased with the results but as said you need warm water on hand to optimise cleaning results

One of the problems is that Leather used for furniture has had to be sealed with some sort of coating for a while now (some H&S b******s).
