I know I shouldn't but
« on: 24 May 2007, 12:25:53 »

Today I had to visit a breaker friend because he told me he had a corsa came in with some bits I want. SO, erm......

Project Corsaircon. I am converting my non-aircon corsa into one with aircon. I am also changing the paddle mirrors for electriuc ones at the same time. Can't do the work yet, but will get all the bits together.

ALSO. I managed to secure TheBoys autobox. A cracking good AR35 awaits you Jaime.

ALSO. I managed to acquire a part another forum member wanted.

ALSO. I managed to get an autobox ECU for BargeCaptain.

Other than that, I am taking it easy.

Ronnie's instructor car with wide wheels, body kit, and baked bean tin as exhaust tail pipe - now that would be a sight to behold ;D

It's got a grab handle for pushing along the pavement with children in, or is it for supermarkets and your shopping

Now, I am starting to regret this but.....

this afternoon I went back to the breakers as I had to remove all the valuable parts of the aircon and electric door mirrors. This included both door looms, the mirrors themselves, the switch etc. Then the control panel for the aircon. They had throughtfully removed the aircon compressor with extended belt, the plumbing, the condensor and had a spar heat exchanger in their office. So, I havbe all the bits almost to do this conversion.

Now, the mirrors look very straight forward once I change the looms and plug in a relay or two.

The aircon is scarily easy as well. Basically, get under the dash and fit the heat exchanger. Then other side of bulkhead to fit the compressor and belt, then the condensor and fan, finally the two pipes and er.... thats it. Oh and a regass. but that seems to be as easy as it is. Or am I missing something here?

looks like a very simple system. basically, on or off!

However. Now I ache like hell and am in trouble because I promissed myself and SWWLTBO that I would not do anything on cars for at least the week.

can't help it. got bored. It was either this I bought one of the wrecks I considered yesterday. A fiesta shed or a Focus marathon mileagemobile.
