For me it will be down to the economics of it all.

I could really do with an economical diesel 4x4 but the Omegas then would have to go. Oh how I would miss cruise and the comfort!

I'll keep it as long as I can.. 10 year old bimmers offer slightly better performance for 3X price of miggy (excluding maintenance costs) .. not worth that money..

Overall running costs  - fuel -even with LPG its still not cheap to run in comparison with a little diesel.
Tax, tyres,insurance,general running costs. Cheap for a big car thanks to the forum and trade club, but still a lot more expensive than a horrible little hatch.It comes down to personal budgets etc.

My current contract allows me to walk to work. So I only have personal mileage at the weekend.
All of my other contracts have involved a lot of travelling, therefore when I start a new contract in about 6 weeks I expect my costs to increase dramatically.
This may be the end :'( :'( I seriously hope not though :(

I know these cars almost inside out now, biggest problem will be finding one in good condition as a replacement. With my mileage just a few hundred per month now, mine will be staying for a long time to come!

I'm happy to keep this Desmond kicking around for as long as it decides to keep going - it’s not driven much anyway.

It's the longest I've kept any car bar for the Volvo 760 I had that surrendered after many years battling central London traffic and a ZooLou driving as he was taught to by mad police instructors. (Before cameras and all this other shite)

Its a real heart over head matter for me. Since losing my job i was selling it to get a smaller economical car but as its in such good nic and i do love it i couldnt part with it, even though mpg and general costs are on the dear side.

I'm with Lizzie and Webby on this, I will never ever give up my two larger engined Omegas, just use them less and use the 2.0ltr as my daily driver as I do now and have done so for the last few years.Can't see me driving a small hatch let alone a diesel,just a personal view and I can understand other forum members having to give up their cars for various reasons,but for me NEVER!! >:( :y

My cdx is one the most reliable cars that I have ever owned which is the reason I still own it despite poor fuel consumption, (mostly short local jouneys). My worry is if fuel costs continue to rise I will reluctantly have to downsize to a crappy little hatch :(

now this is where i think the TD owners win, because the engine is bmw, parts are not difficult for this engine and will not be for a very long time owing to bmw,s policy on parts, now as this also includes clutch and gearbox, that almost all the running gear spoken for!!
as i can weld to competent standard rust holds no fear either,
ditto paintwork,
so that leaves what suspension? well shocks and springs are easy enough to find from another motor as many would be very similar sizes and fittings,
brakes? again discs would be easy enough to source from anothermotor, saab springs to mind also holden parts would probably go on without to much trouble,
diff? easy enough to source bearings and rebuild,propshaft? only uj,s to source plenty use the same  but bmw would appear to be very very similar, so mechanically its no problem to keep it on song, the only thing i can think of that would be difficult to source would be plastic trim as obviously that unique to the omega, but as plastic welding is pretty easy to do, even thats not insurmountable providing its not to badly damaged or worn, switchgear? pretty sure its used in most vectr,s or some other model a bit of searching should come up wth something very similar, of course i havent included bodywork simply because if the car gets hit badly then you could not keep it going if there were no parts available? :y
