Google Chrome
« on: 29 March 2011, 12:35:54 »

Anyone on here use it? I've just started using it and thought it was pretty good and very quick, but there appears to be a few bugs in it. First, it was continually telling me that Shockwave Flash had crashed which I finally sorted out by uninstalling and reinstalling it, now every time I go to Google Mail I'm getting messages telling me Google Gears 0.5.33.0 has crashed. Looking on the Google Help website these seem to quite common along with quite a few other problems. :-?
Think I'm going back to IE8!!

I run it for occasional testing purposes, and never had a problem.

I was using it quite extensively at work and the problems seem to occur when using iGoogle and Gmail with it. I use Firefox at home and will carry on, but now reverted back to IE8 at work.

Chrome has more bugs than a Libyan coffee shop. An intresting experiement by Google, but they really need to raise the game if they want to produce a usable, stable, secure browser.

Been using chrome for donkeys.

It has some bugs, but they are 99% related to incompatible add-ons and extensions.

Flash is the most buggy piece of software ever written....as apple would rightly argue. So you'd expect some crashes with it, but then i get flash crashes on lots of browsers and machines.

Personally i think Chrome is a nicer browser to use, and it links well with my android phone.

Allows me to use things like "Chrome to Phone", which is handy for me.
And also the link between my google account and calendar etc etc.

all in all i like Google's ethos....on most things.

I have until recently been using Chrome for a long time (prior to that Firefox).

2/3 weeks ago started to get the Flash problem and despite the fix in the target line it doesn't work! Seems much, much slower than it ever was.
You can see where IE8 got everything from!

I've moved to Safari which I'm liking so far
IE8 as fall back

Thats the thing - most browsers are fast and stable until all the plugins start destroying them. IE seems particularly prone, possibly due to having more plugins (check what you have installed, its shocking).

Pre-Vista, I used to rebuild my home PCs every 2 to 3 months to keep performance up (XP bogs down with time), so didn't mind IE6.

Post Vista, I tend to only rebuild come Service Pack time to maintain performance, so over that 12-18 month period, all sorts of different browsers find their way on my machines, though I tend to use IE8/9 as my daily choice due to being the most compatible, reverting to others when the mood takes me.

I have found Flash under Firefox & Linux to have become slower and less stable recently (wouldn't have believed it could get any worse, but...).

I believe with the constant flaws being found in flash currently, Adobe are probably having trouble keeping it up to date, and probably do the majority of testing on the main browser (IE)
