for blank sake give these arguments a rest, you don't have to wade into a discussion, shout and moan Lizzie, then create a new thread about it!?

What was the point, other than to stir and create another sh!t storm?

Its the admins I feel sorry for, another load of crap to sort out  :(

Because it is MY opinion that something should be said when members are repeatedly being offensive to each other on particularly one type of thread! ;)

The Forum is not what it used to be is it? ::) ::) ::)  We want the fun back do we not, and make newer members feel more welcome and prepared to comment? ::) ::)

It is the Admins who stated not long ago the "Forum is broken" when things were repeatedly getting nasty.  We the members can help to do something about that, or else the Forum will lose more of the "old" members on top of those who have, or no longer contribute, in addition to newer members who just won't bother;) ;)

My point of view.
Nick writes alot of things that perhaps don't interest me, perhaps far to clever topics for me, that said I don't think I have ever seen him write or had a complaint about him being offensive. I do however find him amusing when he wants too had me in stitches the other night.
We have had this sort of response before and the outcome seemed to have been "if you don't like a thread, don't carry on reading it"  you yourself Lizzie have being someone who says that sort of thing, you also seem to stir things up as you are quiet opinionated person too.
I aren't out to offend anyone here just giving my view.

)

So think it, but no need to post publicly on it. Either PM an Admin, or one of said people "arguing" - Or press the alert mod button.

No need to go into a big song and dance and create a big scene.

Is this an attempt at censorship? An attack on our rights of free speech? and isn't the "General Discussion Area" what it says on the tin?  :(

I don't think that the forum is broken at all, I enjoy the lively discussion and banter that occurs in the General Discussion Area.  So I'm with Banjax here, although I don't agree with many of his views......  ;D ;D ;D

But it is NOT just the subject I am mentioning; far from it Daz!  It is the content in terms of unnecessarily rude comment that I am concerned about, when these threads could be a good discussion point!  But frequently, as with the latest, they break down into insults.  Why??  Is that not against the rules of the Forum.

Even Ht21 personally advised against these threads with their entrenched views!

Yes I could ignore them, but it devalues our enjoyment on the Forum, and starts to make me question why I bother.
I know of others who have made that decision already, with also the problem of it being a clique coming into the equation as  well! ::) ::) ::) ::) ;)

The forum actually is a good representation of society.

Only one thing and one thing alone binds us. Omega ownership (well in most cases).

as in society you get those that sit back and absorb but never comment, those that don't absorb or read anything at all, those that write or raise the item for discussion, those that flame the item, the pleasant, the indifferent and so on.

The problem - if indeed it is a problem, with politics, the environment to take two examples is that many people feel strongly about them. My opinion of windmills has changed dramatically since OOF has been in existence. Most of that change has been catalised by NB (top marks that man)though living near one and knowing someone employed to maintain them has also helped.

Aren't forums a modern day version of debates that used to happen in a pub before they all closed down or got too expensive for us to go to?

At the end of the day we can choose not to read or participate in a thread.

Well judging by all your replies it is ME in the wrong on this one! ::) ::) :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

It is obviously down to my perception, and I must admit I am feeling very emotional, down and tearful at the moment.  However, that is not your problem but mine! :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I have snapped over something that seemed big to me at the time, but I realise now after re-reading certain posts I am over-reating as us women sometimes/ alright, often do!  It is just that everythingseems very sad in my world at the moment, and reading so much that is not funny on the Forum at the moment has got to me :'( :'( :'( :'(

I sincerely apoligise to Nick especially who I have had a right pop at, and to BJ who I felt sorry for but who didn't see it all as I did! ::) ::)

I will not be commenting in such a way again ;) ;)
