I drive through a area with a large Asian/Muslim community going to & from work. It seems that a veil is almost a fashion item, loads of women wear them.

they are wearing it for hundreds of years.. also closing their hairs .. but it was not like that in the beginning years of islam.. also modern islamists say its wrong interpretation of quoran..

ps: actually using veil and closing head is not the same class according to islamic rules..veil is not a supposition definitely.. where as closing head is very debatable as a supposition..

Well it's a handy way for the wearer to conceal a face like a well-skelped arse (should they have one).

On a prosaic and slightly more serious note however, I think it's unacceptable to allow people to hide their identity in this way in a country where the majority do not practise doing so.

By allowing such behaviour - along with other exhibitions of personal choice - simply means (to me at least) that this country (UK) will descend into a de-facto separatist state where the inclinations of those who choose to be different will be paramount in how the law and generally accepted social convention will be adhered to.

Loyalty to the nation state - before personal choice - is how it really should be.

Gets my support too.

I just hope the estimated 2000 women affected don't end up in effect confined to their home. We will see. Well actually we won't.

You mean the one with the full frontal nudity (that I had to close PDQ since I'm at work)?

To be fair I don't know if it was full-frontal.. I saw boobs, muttered "oh, shit" and closed the tab pronto. But there were definitely naked boobs. Not that I mind naked boobs, you understand .. just not here, when I'm at work.
