has anyone else noticed that the for sale/wanted ads get lots of replies that break the forum guidelines with admin/moderators being guilty as well.

I'm sure if admin see a problem worth bothering with they'll deal with it in the usual well trusted fashion.  :y

In reply to the OP yes I have noticed that too...

I have also noticed inconsistencies in removing comments from some threads and not removing worse ones from others....

If we all want to chip in to pay them a salary, so they can give up their jobs just to moderate OOF then they may be able to ensure that the letter of the rules is rigidly adhered to in each and every post.
Then again, maybe not, because they would still be human. ;)

Spot on  :y

Life is full of up's & down's, but unless you are suffering personal loss/injury then all that really matters IMO is that you have a pulse.

All seems to have been said above.

However, you do seem to perceive a problem, I dont know if thats widespread, or occasional instances.

If theres something in a thread you really think needs looking at, you have the alert mod button, will always ensure it gets more attention.

Or if you want to pm me any recent specifics, ill happily give you my take on them.

Well, we do our best, but sometimes we all read different things into a given post, and we all have a different opinion on where the line of decency is.  And sometimes, bluntly, we make mistakes.
