You must have been to hell and back over the last 24 hours; a truly terrible experience. However, I am relieved to hear that he will soon be back home with you and your missus. I wish him well for a speedy recovery.  :y

Oh yes, it could have been much much worse ...............
He is buying the lottery tickets from now on  ::)

An unenviable position to find both yourself and your wife in Rob - however the news that he is soon to be home and to be cared for is encouraging.

I hope he soon recovers and is back to full fitness. :y

What a lucky lad! At least he is ok. If he managed to self-kin inform then that is a very very good sign. You should sleep well in the knowledge that the medical support to troops in Afghanistan truly is the best available in the world right now.  You should have been assigned an officer who will be explaining a lot of things to you.

I know people who work at Selly Oak, it is the dogs in terms of patient care.  The support for families is also excellent.  If you have any questions do not hesitate to get in touch.

In fact, pm on it's way with my mobile number  :y

I feel for you and his mum Rob. Sounds like he has been lucky in the circumstances. Young uns tend to heal quickly, so he will soon be on the mend, and no doubt will have a tale to tell his children/grandchildren in years to come. :y

Good news that he's back in the UK, tell him to keep his hands off the nurses, esp the female ones  ;D
