Motorway sights

Driving down the M6 yesterday...

Smelled burning  :'(
couldnt identify it from anywhere..
A steam engine was driven up the other side of the motorway (black, number 1000, anyone know it)
Thought....it couldnt cause this smell, could it?
Smell persisted....then the van 3 cars in front of me burst into flames!  fire shooting out the back, then underneath, God knows what let go, the thing looked jet propelled!
It pulled over, and the smell went, Mystery solved  :y
Dont think the van will move under its own steam again though  :'(

On another M6 / Birmingam note...

Was the first time ive been though either way since they have finished the variable speed limits and hard shoulder use at peak times...

and WOW  Ive never got through so quickly either going or coming back, slowed to 5-10 mph at times, but never actually stopped.

I do this trip every few months, at the same time.  reckon it saved 30 mins each way!  very impressed.

Around the RAC building area at Birmingham, didnt take note of start end jucntions.  Think it ended southbound just after the M5 junction.

Yeah, I passed through it a while back and found it OK... If anytime between about 07:30 and 20:30 I still prefer to pay for the Toll though :y :y

Ah, been a while since I've done that section, as I normally stretch the ol' girls legs on the toll...

The front deffo looks like it,

and also had a big 1000 on the other bit.

Must have been mistaken on the colour, front was deffo black, I prob stopped looking at colour after that, and I was going at, erm, motorway speeds in the other direction  :y

and given this : http://www.sharpos-world.co.uk/blog/?p=2899
could have been on the way back?
