Emergency Fire Appliance Driver
« on: 17 June 2011, 20:34:28 »

Well as of yesterday I'm an emergency fire appliance driver (E.F.A.D.). Got 100% on my written test, and only 1 minor in the whole four days driving (which wasn't really my fault) - but hey, they can't tell you you're perfect!

I'll tell you what, it's alot more fun throwing a 15 ton blown V8 fire engine round than a V6 Omega! The noise that thing makes is not of this earth! 75 mph down country A roads and 60 mph through the city centre is fun!  :D

Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Will be at police HQ next week for a skid pan session aswell, where apparently they've got old 2.0 litre Omegas. I'll try my best, but even with the special trolley and the water plane, I still think it will be hard to get a skid from a measly 4 pot  ;D ;D ;D :y

It's a good feeling tearing down a high street at 60 mph + isn't it. I met an ambulance on my efad assessment, I was going through a green light and he was going through a red. both on blues. He stopped and let me go. congrats

Yeah it is! It's great when you have the 'moses' effect and the traffic parts like the red sea! I love the bullhorn aswell!

I'll be driving pretty much constant for the next few months now as we're down on drivers :D

But be warned tho as you will get some dumb ass  who will just carry on in their own littlew world while you are trying to get somewhere to help somebody in danger......... Its one of my pet hates  that people think they can just ignore whats coming up behind them until the last minute  >:( >:( >:(

Thanks Vamps!

I know what you mean there though. Some people blast the bullhorn constantly and it just becomes aggressive which isn't what you really want.

We didn't just stay in Sunderland, I was round Newcastle, the airport, and all the way up to Alnwick up the coast, and then down through the country side. I did some massive blue light runs, it's mint!!
