While the slow-motion Greek car crash continues..
« on: 22 June 2011, 14:33:30 »

...the European Council will, later this week, be discussing the following proposals:

* A financial transaction tax which will allow the EU to raise its own tax, even set its own tax rates, without democratic oversight. This money will be disproportionally raised in the City of London and will cripple London's place as one of the world's financial leaders.

* Finalisation of the EU's takeover of Britain's asylum rules. This means that Britain will not be able to set its own asylum policy.

* The economic governance package. This sees the EU having oversight of the UK's treasury decision. It demands budget approval ahead of the government presenting its Budget to the British people.

Oh, and a change to the EU Treaty means we'll be liable to help out the next lot of defaulting countries.

 >:( >:( >:(

The EU is the elephant in the room. I just wish people would open their eyes a bit more.  ::) ::)

Three blind visually impaired mice and a clock is the way that everything’s being run these day Nickbat.

Logic will never take a front seat and determine the outcome unfortunate.

And as for the leaders of this country, they'll keep letting the countries people get shafted, while their lining their own pockets.

You should know by now  ::)

VOTE UKIP.

The lords recently voted down the idea that any "major" transference of powers to Brussels in the future will only be done so after a vote by the UK electorate.
Quite a few who dont normally attend turned out, including both the Kinnocks, Mandelson......the list goes on.
What they all had in common was that they are all former EU commisionares etc. (despite the fact that Kinnock used to be vehemently anti EU) and recieve huge pensions from the EU.
They are bound by loyalty clauses which state that if they are "deemed to be disloyal" they can lose their pensions.
It makes my fackin blood boil. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

trouble with this increasingly ludicrous EU is it stokes up those mouth-breathing knuckle draggers in the EDL (or whatever the screaming retard equivalent is in each country) - so we could totally demonstrate against the EU, but the right-wing conspiracy nuts would hijack it and it would be all too easy for DC  to pass it off as zenephobic rantings...cut off the EDL and the BNP, tell UKIP to stfu for a second while the adults of Britain discuss this, then you'd maybe get broad agreement across the country that the EU is getting away with murder. as it stands - its far too easy to polarise the debate - get the loonies to keep quiet...i dunno....i'm sure Simon Cowell can think of something.....X-Factor 24/7....that kind of thing  :y

proper debate, proper protest and DC will cave-in like a baked Alaska 8-)

There is broad agreement around the country regarding the EU and its power/money grab. Those weasels in Westminster know it, which is why they will do anything to stop the British electorate from having a say in anything related to it.
The point is They wont let the growns ups have a meaningful discussion on the subject, therefore the only option is to...............VOTE UKIP. ;)

I actually find this a bit disappointing, Banjax.

The truth is that the EU is made up of largely left-wing MEPs. It is also true that each of the three main parties, LibDem, Lab & Conservative (in order of enthusiasm) have Europhile tendencies. Oh, and you can add the SNP to that list, too. Thus, there will be no adult discussion of the EU whilst any of the above are in charge.

Yes, UKIP are a right-of-centre party. For me that is a good thing, but with socialist credentials, I can see that is a problem for you. However, faced with an undemocratic EU, where exactly do you stand? Surely, if you believe in a future democracy here in our land, you should weigh up the options. Knowing your socalist tendencies, you have a hard choice, but I genuinely believe that, if you value democracy, you should support UKIP to remove us from the the tyranny of the EU...you would then be perfectly entitled to lobby for a future left-of-centre administration (since that is your particular preference) to take the UK forward without the EU shackles. At least it would be democratic.  ;)

We can breathe a fiscal sigh of relief. The next tranche of bailout money has been agreed and only from Euro zone countries. We aren't completely off the hook as we still have about £1b to stump up as our share of the IMF.

The Greeks can breathe easy too. Well until next months bond payments are due. ;D ;D

i dont how you can say that Nick, more than half of the MEPs belong to right or centre right parties surely?  :o

and just because i agree that the EU is wholly undemocratic, doesnt mean i have any desire to throw my hat in with a bunch of little englanders dreaming of some ephemeral 1950's idyll of village cricket greens and sleepy hamlets - get real, in these times of global economy and global communications, it becomes less and less important where you're from than where you're going.....UKIP et al seem to forget that and are a minor irrelevance as a consequence..no - we need the big guns to start standing up for a demcratic EU - we need Labour and Conservatives alike to find some balls  ;)
